I’ve been looking at getting the RTIC 40 for my camping and fishing trips. Found a deal on their website currently at 95 bucks. Anyone have one? I’m not wanting to drop 200 for the Yeti and not wanting the Walmart brand either.

I've used the 20 for 3 days a week for my lunch the last 2.5 years and it holds ice and ice packs well. It has however developed a leak somewhere that holds water, but i just flip it over and the water drains.

I also have used the Wal-Mart brand, that doesn't look like the rtics, but it doesn't hold ice packs as well.

I don’t remember the size of mine but it holds a twelve pack and almost a full bag of ice.
It’s 2 yrs old or so and has held up good the skin seems to have delaminated from the insulation and it looks like shite after being used hard ( it gets used 2 or more weekends a month. It has never leaked and holds ice for a day not 2.5 months like some people’s yetis.

I'd look hard at polar bear coolers. Been around for a while and are awesome. I had a 24can one that lasted the better part of a decade. Many fish and ducks, not to mention beers, were cooled in mine. It finally met an untimely death when I put a green 10lb flathead in it and it punctured the lining. They are great coolers.

polar bear ice chest are hard to beat and at a reasonable price, I have the back pack, 24 can ice chest and 48 can. I do not put my fish in there but for drinks and dry food it is the best.

For years, I’ve been a big fan of the AO coolers... I’ve used them for fishing for the last 7 years without much issue. They’re tough, hold up and hold ice for a good while.

I got another soft side cooler earlier this year... a Titan RF from California Innovations. It’s similar to the Yeti Hopper and possibly the RTIC. I loaded it up this past weekend with ice and it stayed in my car while out fishing. I was impressed with how well it kept ice. May want to take a look at those and see if it’s comparable

Take a look at the Kysek soft sides. I have the regular soft side and the backpack version. Good stuff. They are also a LA based company out of Covington.

I have had the rtic 30 for two years and have been happy with it. It stays in either my trunk or garage. It still looks brand new. I use it a couple of times a week for hauling beer. I've seen a lot of folks complain about the glue coming loose on them but those folks are usually keeping the cooler in the back of their truck or in direct sunlight for extended periods of time. It was worth it to me to not pay the extra couple hundred for a yeti. I was later given a yeti by a vendor and it is nice but I wouldn't have paid the extra.

I have a rtic, polar bear and ao. The rtic has never leaked, the ao has never leaked and I use it as a fish bag on my kayak. The polar I can only use ice packs in, it leaks it’s arse off with actual ice.

Maybe you just dont like the way it looks but I have a Yeti Hopper and a Ozark Trail that is a little larger and both have been fantastic the OT at just 1/4 the price. Neither leak. Both will sweat around the zippers a bit when filled with icy stuff and it's hot and humid outside.

My ozark trail backpack leaks like crazy at the zipper. Maybe you got an upgraded version. I bought mine not long after they hit the shelves. The cooler itself it’s really good for the money. It has become my beach cooler cause I can abuse it and carry it on my back. It keeps ice all day on the beach. It’s not a lot of ice, but it’s ice. Probably 70/30 cold water and ice after a day. That’s me going in and out if it pretty regular. If you bend over with that pack on after a day on the beach, you’ll get a nice cold surprise come rushing down your back and sober you up for a sec! Overall I would buy again.

I bought the RTIC 8 for a lunch box about 2 months ago. I’ve only ever used ice packs in it. Bummer is you can’t put water bottles upright in it, but cans fit fine. I really only ever put sandwiches and leftovers in it. I’m really pleased with it so far but I haven’t had a chance to pack with ice and take with me on the boat so the verdict is still out on how much I like it.

My buddy has an AO and I’m really impressed with it. His big one can hold ice all weekend at deer camp. Now it’s cold outside then so I don’t know how it performs in the summer.

I’ve never had a true soft side that didn’t leak over time, regardless of cost. My small coolers now all have the hard plastic insert

We all use the AO Coolers in our Yaks. I'm on year 3 with mine and it's still going strong.

Ya, I want to hear the whole story about them.

Seems they are pretty connected over here, they do sponsor a ton of stuff.
