ATF Releases NFA guidance in response to the Texas NFA lawsuit:
"Effective October 9, 2026, ATF will no longer require individuals to seek ATF approval under the NFA before making or transferring short-barreled rifles, short-barreled shotguns, silencers, and “any other weapon[s]” as defined in 26 U.S.C. § 5845(e). ATF will also no longer require such items to be registered in the National Firearms Registration and Transfer Record. These policies apply uniformly to anyone otherwise subject to these requirements, not just to the plaintiffs in the litigation."

If I was an enterprising FFL in a free state, I would start getting rifles and SBR's setup with suppressors as off-the-shelf offerings.

Prices of suppressors/silencers should be dropping soon.

I sure hope so. I've been wanting a 30cal. Almost pulled the trigger more than once and may end up buying one this weekend. I'm cheap and keep searching for a single do it all suppressor that can be used for various guns. Too many options these days and I'm not sure what I want exists.
But I know I won't stop with just 1, anyway. Think I might just wait a bit longer, save my pennies in hopes of prices to decline, and buy 2-3 different ones that are platform & cal specific, rather than ending up with a jack of all master at none situation.

They've been coming down, there are so many new start up companies you can't keep up with them. Then you have gun manufacturers like Aero Precision, Ruger, Canik, Bergara, and Savage getting into the market, all points to more supply than demand in a very short time frame imo, which should lead to lower prices.

we have a ruling from a district court in Texas that basically restricts the ATF from enforcing componets of NFA laws and the current admin. DOJ did not seek an appeal. Unfortunately, it's unknown how this ruling effects state laws regarding SBR's and silencers, etc.and the next administration can appeal and create a gigantic clusterfrick...will be interesting to see how all this is going to work moving forward.. I would think the best bet is to still complete the form (it's free) and you have nothing to worry about.we'll see
