We have the Pioneer 1000 and recently the 750. Both are wonderful. Have several friends also with the 1000's. Great side by sides and extremely quiet in the woods. And not to mention the reliability that a Honda provides.

What Honda dealership do you work for?

I had about the same problems as this guy did with his Pioneer....just weak, and no leg room for me. I'm 6'2"...

The best warranty is on the Teryx, but I felt cramped in the legroom area in it, also.....

I love driving my FILs ranger but i hate that it doesnt have gears and is loud even at slow speeds. Makes me think i wouldnt want that for hunting.

While i also liked my buddies Big Red that had gears and was quiet when in high gear through the woods.

For shits and giggles I drove by friendly at lunch, they have 11 side by sides in their service area. 9 pioneer 1000s. A pioneer 700. And an old rhino.

And last I checked, the 700 outsells the 1000 like 3 to 1.

I just cant bring myself to the Tyrex as I am a Yamaha guy and the Wolverine seems perfect for trail riding.

The x4 is a great bike, it just has seating issues for anyone over 150lbs.

You don't notice until you're getting out of it.

The regular wolverine is awesome but only seats two.

Viking is good. Seats three.

Viking six requires a lifting and 30s to not bottom out everywhere, but it seats six comfortable.

All will be bulletproof like most yamaha products.

Just went through this process myself. I was looking for something reliable that would easily last 10-15 years for working and hunting. Based on my research and previous experiences, went with the Honda Pioneer 1000 EPS.

That doesn't cross over to their side by sides. The Pioneers are turds. Honda really dropped the ball on them. Their atv's are topnotch but their side by sides are definitely last of the big manufacturers. the Rangers, Vikings and the Kawasaki all are a lot better machine and they aren't nearly as cumbersome as the Pioneers. Btw that's coming from a Honda fan. I just know better than to buy one of their sxs's

I know at least 20 to 30 folks in my city alone with Honda SXS. Local repair shops are full of everything else but rarely a Honda. Has been that way forever. Besides this forum I never see or here anything bad about Honda SXS and usually its all from that Rondo guy. To each his own. I see what I see and hear what I hear. And they are solid as expected. No they are not fixing to pull down a barn or win Mud nattys, but again they aren't designed are expected that either.

The Teryx is the best 4 seater

Such a underrated bike. Easily the best turning radius of any SXS and the throttle response is not as jumpy as the other brands. I know it doesn;t get talked about much on here but the Can Am Defender is a solid unit. The power and functionality are both top notch. Plus it is quieter than the Polaris or Yamaha.

Rando, frick face.

Who owns a yamaha 1000, a Polaris 1000, and a honda 1000. And a older big red 700.

All have been reliable EXCEPT the pioneer 1000.

That's why there is a recall on the clutch of every pioneer 1000 ever sold.

The Pioneer is JUNK....like we told him....

FORMER owner here.....

I do have a '91 300 Fourtrax sitting in my garage that's bulletproof, though....

I too have a 700 Pioneer. I use it strictly at the hunting camp. Work days, etc. Yes top speed of about 40-45 MPH. That is plenty fast for what I need/want. I went with it for the shaft drive as opposed to the belt because I knew I would be using it for work and the fact that their 4-wheelers are known for being bullet proof. Had it for 2 years now and have been super pleased with it.

I looked hard at the Polaris, but had friends that both purchased them and had issues with axles in the first year. One had issues twice. ALL of the repairs were done under warranty, but made me second guess getting one.

I got the Pioneer 500 for the simple fact trails where I hunt are narrow and the bigger SXS are too wide and tall. Best decision ever. It's perfect and so quiet. Love the paddle shifters. I dropped 28" tires on it and goes where ever I have needed. Very few times have I even needed 4wd. Folks I know that have bought one are very pleased with all 3 models of the Pioneer.

Guy buys a new Pioneer 1000 and after 3 months bike catches on fire. He contacts Honda and they tell him to eat a bag of dicks basically. FYI this is not an isolated incident with the Pioneer 1000.

I bought a 2016 Honda Pioneer 1000-3 a month or so ago, on the third time I took it out it caught fire and burn to the ground. I had not even gone through 3/4 of a tank of gas and rode it on dirt roads. I felt heat from the seat and on my back, I turn around and saw flames coming up from the back. I jumped out and ran to the back and tried to put it out by dumping my cooler on it. That didn't work and I saw the grass was on fire, so I jumped back in and gunned it. I got back out and saw that the fire was following the bike. 2 minutes later I had to run from the bike cause the fire was so bad. Has anyone had problems like this?

I contacted Honda and they came out and looked at it. Honda said that since they can not see what happened (cause there was nothing left, duh fire + plastic & rubber = nothing left) that they are not going to anything for me.

And now there is a stop sale on all pioneer 1000s to replace a heat shield made of plastic that catches fire.

They can't be sold until the repair is made. But they will sell them with the clutch that WILL fail. And then warranty it later.

Shitty business practice.
