How long have you had the Wolverine? The 2019 now has the 850 motor in it.

2 years. 120 hrs 1000 miles some trail/mud with 30" tires that fit with stock suspension. I looked at the new 850 but I can't make myself get rid of the 700 yet.

Bought Pioneer 700 this spring and really like it thus far though with minimal testing. It's just for hunting for the most part. Have been Honda all my life, could not bring myself to buy Polaris. Reputation of the Ranger seems solid overall but I just kept looking at it hard and thinking "this is put together chincy". So the Honda tops out at 40-45......couldn't tell you, I can't bring myself to go faster than about 35 on a farm road, what the hell would I need to go faster than that for looking at blinds, hauling a trailer behind it, hauling decoys or a few guys to a blind???

Did go with the deluxe model to have the paddle shifters so i can control the shifting if needed since there is no dedicated low range, that is a fault. Power steering has been really nice so far too, didn't have it on my Foreman. It's no frills, but it's built solid, dont think many would argue that, and it looks like it'll do exactly what I need. Happy to report back by end of duck season to give the run down after some more time in it, it's parked for now.

TigahD they are solid. I showed this thread to some friends lastnight while we were cooking and drinking and they agreed you'll always have that one occasional bike by any manufacturer that will have quality issues like the one that burnt above. And you'll always have one douche canoe like Rondo in every thread trying to down a product. Looking back thru his history he is always the first to chime in to bash the 1000. Case in point one buddy last night mentioned his Ranger has been in and out the shop all summer and its only 2 years old. He has yet to see a 1000 Pio in for repairs of any kind at either the shop or the dealership he frequents in Lake Charles. Its a Honda you cant go wrong overall

At lunch today, I'm gonna drive down the street and take a picture of Friendly's service department. If the pioneer 1000 doesn't make up at least 50% of the side by sides, I'll prostrate myself before you and beg for forgiveness.

I own one, honda built a shite unit.

My yamaha 1000 has over 6000 miles on it. The yamaha 660 it replaced had 8000 miles on it.

My Polaris 1000 has almost 600.

My honda 700 doesnt even have an odometer or hour meter.

All have been effectively bulletproof. The rhino ate bearings, but that was my fault. Though the Polaris is too young to tell.

The honda 1000 is a huge POS. Great bike built around a terrible transmission and clutch that constantly has stupid recalls on it.

I have zero brand loyalty. My jext one will be a Honda sxs500.

Honda fricked up on the 1000.

Don't believe me, check out hondasxs.com

Anybody with experience with the John Deere’s? My buddy has one and works it hard and he talks really highly of it. But, that’s the only opinion I’ve heard of them.

Quite a few of them have sued.

The problem affected all units.

Essentially the unit would get too hot, then start misfiring on one cylinder. Then it starts dumping raw fuel into the exhaust. When that happens the exhaust either melts and falls off or, more commonly, ignites the heat shield.

The fix? Remove the plastic heat shield and replace with a tiny metal one. Ignoring the misfire condition entirely.

Did you drive by for lunch today? Just wondering

Also, my dads 2013 ranger 500 is in the shop for the first time. It wouldn’t idle good and would kill. Brought it to local mechanic and he changed fuel pump. It seemed to help for a week then got even worse. Brought it to performance in Houma and they said the compression release valve got stuck and messed up the cam and rocker arm. Ever hear of that happening before?

all I did was adjust the shocks all the way up. If I'm driving over 15 and hit a dip they do rub a little but when they are on it's only for trail/mud riding. I put stocks on for hunting/working/ carrying stuff in the bed.

Nah I’m looking at the X4 SE which retails at 17,200 but they can get to just below 15.

In all seriousness, the Pioneer wouldn’t fit our riding style for trails and passenger comfort. It really looks like the back seats are an afterthought. It’s down to the Teryx 4 and Wolverine 4. It feels like the Wolverine is more refined than the Teryx. The one advantage of the Teryx is ease of getting into and more back seat room.

I like everything about the X4 but the placement of the oil tank and the shoulder bolster placement in the front.

Don't get me wrong, I'm a big barrel chested fat bastard, but when my buddy who's 150lbs complained about the bolster stabbing him in the back as he was getting out, I realized it wasn't just me.

That 850 is a peach of a motor. And makes more power than Honda's 1000 while being quieter.

Gun to my head, I would still buy a Honda 1000 over the x4. Only because of the shoulder bolsters

I went to the dealer and drove the X4 and that new 850 motor is so smooth and quiet. It really is the quietest side by side I have driven so far.

Had a manager of theirs tell me, after I went with the ranger instead of the Honda, that he tried to figure out a way of talking me out of the Honda without being so overt while I was sxs shopping. They have seen a ton of issues. But also have a buddy that swears by the 1000. No issues at all.

If you run it HARD and use low. You won't have issues beyond the defects they are fixing.
