passed by there this morning, two CG helicopters, 2 sheriff boats, a few sheriff cars, and two WLF trucks. The boat was sticking out the water just about 150 yards west of the south end of the hwy 11 bridge. hope for a positive outcome, but hard to imagine one.

You are playing Russian Roulette when you fish Ponchartrain in a flat boat.

Sounds like the capsized boat was found and reported yesterday. The body was not found until today. I would imagine, since he had no life vest, that he may have been submerged during yesterday's search.

I sometimes kayak without a PFD thinking, "I'm a good swimmer, I'll be OK", but that's crazy. If you bump your head during the fall, you can't swim at all.

The search began Tuesday when officials received a report of a person in the water on the west side of the Highway 11 bridge. Officials later were notified that Guimont was reported missing and that he matched the description of the person in the water.

Wow, didn't see that at first. I guess whoever it was couldn't swim, didn't have a boat and figured reporting it was the best thing they could do. It sucks though.

I passed by there yesterday evening wondering why there were so many vehicles at the foot of the bridge.

Damn if i see a person treading water in peril im not going to go on with my commute. You dont have to jump in and risk your life. But shite at least have eyes on the person until they get help. I would feel like an arse today if i made that 911 call.

No shite, stop the car and throw something that floats, if you do not have anything someone who gets caught up in the ensuing traffic jam will.

A simple spare tire in the water would have likely saved the mans life.

People just plain suck these days.

I understand that but the Hwy 11 bridge isn't the best place to stop a car. You risk getting ran the f over.
