Saw a buck chasing a doe this morning. First one we’ve seen chasing.

It was rocking at our place in Magee a couple days ago, brother hunting now and had two big bucks going at it by him.

Lots of fresh scrapes.

I’ve hunt the past few days in Attala Co. Scrapes everywhere and young bucks going nuts. Big boys starting to get interested.

How long does the rut usually last in central MS?

I can’t speak for others but the piece of property I’m able to hunt in Madison county the hot period is usually a 3 week period from Christmas to 2nd week of January. Some years last a week longer which I guess depends on the doe population in the area.

I’m SW of you in Holmes County and agree. I saw a 6 point breed a doe about an hour ago.

Been hunting 25 years and that’s the first time I’ve ever seen it.

Called myself getting to the stand early just cause I had nothing else to do. Figured it would be slow with the wind today. Overlooking 15 acres of harvested corn and I got this 6 point and doe going wild at 2:00. He nailed her and they stood dead still for 10 minutes with their tongues hanging out and then he went and laid down for about 15 minutes. Then hopped up and went to chasing again. It was awesome.

Looked like me on the two nights a year my wife gets enough liquor in her to want to bang rather than just have a little sex

Been slow at my farm in Madison County (Canton). I think the next 2 weeks will be good though.

Great two more months and we will have the rut too.

Right when season ends

Where about in Holmes County? I’m between Lexington and Tchula and border up to one of the more “high dollar hunting clubs”

Sounds like you don't need to be hunting in the woods. You need to be making moonshine to up those numbers.

I'm in Centreville - killed a nice 8 about a week before Xmas that was following after several does - he was def interested in the does, but not overly so. This past weekend I watched a young 10 aggressively chasing several does after coming out from bedding with one and into the plot. IMO, things are on and poppin'!

I killed my first ever deer today and my daughter killed her first ever yesterday. Hers was crossing but mine was actively chasing 3-4 does at once. We are in Claiborne county. I have a very proud dad/grandpa/hunting guide tonight.

Centreville Illinois, Maryland or Virginia? I’m asking because I’m not seeing anything like than in Centreville Mississippi! In 3 days of hunting this weekend all I saw were a few doe and a fork-horn buck that was cruising a creek bottom. He did appear to be in “search mode” but was not overly worked up about it.
