Does the Walther still come with that paddle mag release on the trigger guard? If so Ruger 100%.

Yes, and one of the reasons I have been leaning toward the ruger. and it's cheaper!

I suggest looking at the M&P Compact 22 before you make a decision.

p.s. If you decide to get the Ruger, call me. I have one more than I need (or want).

eta: I have yet to find any ammo that the M&P .22 won't handle. I've tried Winchester, Walmart Federal, Federal Automatch, Remington, Aguila, CCI Mini-Mags and CCI Tactical (and probably one or two more that I can't recall offhand). ALL of it cycles perfectly and shoots accurately. (The CCI is the most accurate in mine).

I also suggest the m&p .22 over both of those, the sr-22 would be my second choice though.

Of all 22 handguns, for me, it's hard to beat a Ruger MK3 or 22/45. They are just so easy to point and shoot. Love the design.

I almost picked up one of those from Academy a while back. Went to get it once I got paid, and it was gone. Fine piece of machinery right there.

I have shot two SR22s a fair amount, and I don't really like them. They are picky about ammo, and still hang up sometimes when you find something they like

Mine isn't and I've heard that about both guns. I've also heard that both eat all ammo fine. So it appears as if it's pistol specific.

I bought it second hand from my boss. He had put maybe 20 rds through it since he bought it 3 months ago. I'm not even gonna tell you what I paid for the gun and 1000 rds of ammo. I think I took advantage of him

I just picked up the SR22 last week. Chose it over the Walther. Like the feel of the Ruger better.

The M&P 22 compact specifically, hell of a little pistol. 600+ rounds through mine without a single hiccup.

Does the Walther still come with that paddle mag release on the trigger guard or the thumb safety that operates the opposite of the 1911? If so Ruger 100%.

I've not shot the SR22, but the only Walther P22 I've ever shot was very inaccurate. If possible, handle and shoot the SR22, Walther, Ruger 45/22 and Ruger Mk 3 and see which one works best for you.

The SR22 is the one with the goofy thumb safety (as in opposite a 1911).
