BTW, I used to have the Walther P22 until someone stole it out of my truck. I started to buy another one but went with the 1911-22 this time. I still may buy a Walther just to have because I think it's a great little gun.

The SR22 is the one with the goofy thumb safety (as in opposite a 1911).

Didn't know that about the SR22. Walther may've recently changed the safety on the P22, but my friend's (an older model) has a safety that operates opposite of the 1911, as well. His works like the one is the pic on page 14.

Here's a good comparison of the SR22 and P22.

I chose the SR22 over the Walther about a year ago because the operation was more consistant with other guns I already had. I have been very pleased with it. Only issue I had was out of the box, it would fail to load the next round every 2 or 3 shots using any ammo - this only happened with one magazine. Ruger sent me a replacement mag and the issue hasnt happened again.

I haven't had any problems out of my P22. The only complaint is the mag release location. It's very awkward.

I bought my daughter the SR22 for her first pistol. She loves it. I like the fact that it has DA/SA with a saftey. Basically all of the "mechanisms" that you will find on various handguns in one model. It's a good learning platform. I also liked how the gun wouldn't fire without a magazine. Again, from a teaching perspective.

She has fun with it ... and yes it's purple.

I have both the p22 and the sr22. The sr22 is better imo.
