Wow. I didn't have any problems except waiting for them to go get the box. I was in there about an hour. This morning I went to Natchez Walmart and two ladies there knew absolutely nothing about a gun sale. Told me to come back at 10am. I was looking for the 17HMR.

Yikes yea it was slow but not rude like that. There was a day the only one who could sell was not there so I had to go back. And then the, had to wait for manager thing.

Stopped at WalMart to pick up a perscript for the FiL and swung by the ammo case. Saw they had replenished some of the clearance rifles even though they had been out of stock of everything since I bought my Ruger at the start of this thread. Two Savage Bmags and two firearms I haven't seen mentioned yet. One was a Remmington 597 22LR/scope combo for $109 and a Braztech/Taurus/Rossi 22LR/410 break action for $74.

I drug my feet a little too long. My local WalMart (near Dayton, OH) said they've been out of the Ruger Amerians for a few weeks, and that they were clearanced because they would no longer be selling them. Hopefully that isn't true and they go on sale every Aug-Sep to make room for new stock.

I had a few chances but didn't pull the trigger as I wanted a 308 or 270. Thanks for heads up

I went to sight in the savage 22 I picked up. Shot 20 rounds and it didn't cycle 1. It's accurate it's just jams every time.

I'm going to try some other ammo. At first it wouldn't eject but after a couple of shots it started too. It just won't grab the next one. I don't think it's throwing the bolt back far enough. Or it's a problem with the magazine. But when I manually pull the bolt back and release it grabs the next one. So I think the bolt just isn't going back far enough.

Think I found the problem. The CCI's I got are the "quiet 22" rounds. Only 720 FPS.

did you clean and oil it?

Working at the shooting range I see many people bring a new semi auto .22 and take it out of the box it came in and then have problems with it cycling...

try cleaning it and use a light and minimal amount of oil where needed

EDIT: just now saw you wer using the quiet .22

yeah...they won't cycle most all semi auto's...

College buddy stopped by the house last night. Told him about the .308 I picked up. We went to both Natchez and Vidalia walmarts to the morning for a .243 for his 12yr old. Vidalia didn't have any Ruger's left. Natchez had 1 last ruger American .243 for $199.

Last weekend I sighted mine in and shot 1.5" @ 150yrds. Very happy with the way the gun shoots. It does like a heavier grain. I shot 150s, 165s, and picked up a box of 168s but have not tried them. The 165s grouped better than the 150s.
