I'm thinking something lightweight and stretchy but with some pocket space. I've been doing a lot of birding/hiking recently and need better performance clothes as the temperature is about to start heating up.

TIA

These are decent for the price

Not anything I'd take on a week long trip but I have put a decent number of day hiking miles on mine and have liked them for that. I'm anti things in my pockets when I hike though so no comment on that aspect.

Those are close but I think I want a shorter inseam. I feel like those would be too baggy.

I love Patagonia stand up shorts, even though they are canvas the leg openings make them "airy."

Kavu Chili Lite shorts are similar and made of lighter weight material.

I bought some wrangler cargo shorts at wal mart a few years back and they have been great. They aren't long or bulky. I can put all my fishing pliers and such in them.

JORTS Is the only answer.

To be serious, I bought some cheap Magellan fishing shorts at academy and I like em. Not too baggy, but cool and dry quick. Ample pocket space and have held up well fishing and doing chores around the farm.

Huk shorts are the most comfortable I have ever had. I have tried a lot and they are awesome.

I have never tried their shorts but bought a pair of Prana Brion pants last fall for hiking and they are the most comfortable pants I've ever owned. Wear them for days at a time now whether in the bush or around town. Durable as frick too.

I imagine their shorts are of similar quality and comfort. Check em out. LINK

They look a little long online, probably look better in person.

Eta: it looks like they have 9" and 11" inseams.

I use some cheap Columbia shorts from academy for all my hikes. Weight is similar to other high brands. I wouldn’t pay more for. I am not a gram nazi but do count them.

I’ll second this for comfort, but might not have the pocket space you’re looking for depending on what you’re trying to carry.

Can confirm. I own them in every color they make. Incredibly comfortable shorts and super durable. Only basic pockets, though.

Edit: They are on sale right now plus free shipping
