And the reason you can't perform this simple task is---What?

There is really not much to taking apart a reel and cleaning, then greasing them.

You apparently don’t use baitcasters.

I take all my baitcasters apart and clean once a year. Shimano has all parts diagrams up online, like almost all the major companies. They really aren't that intimidating once you learn a little about how they work. If you're decently mechanically inclined and have a little patience there's really nothing to it.

Not too much any more, but when I did, I cleaned and oiled them. I do prefer the open faced spinning reels now.

I honestly had no idea anyone paid to have this done. Granted, I don't fish as much as a lot of you, and almost never in salt water, but I've been taking baitcasters apart and putting them back together wrong and redoing it since I was about 12 years old.

I’ve had then fix two reels

I surf fish a lot and I never “clean” them with anything more than a squirt from the hose pipe.

Jesus guys (not necessarily Tigerwise). the dude just wants suggestions on where to take them.

Maybe he has kids and they frick with his stuff. Maybe he has bad eyesight and doesn't want to jack it up. Maybe he simply does not have the time to clean his reels properly.

I know how to do it, but dammit if I have a place I can work on them without my kid getting into all of the little parts and really messing it all up.

For those industrious enough to break down and clean their own reels, there are plenty of youtube videos and other online sites with plenty of instruction for novices. And if you do break your reel down, consider replacing the spool bearings or bushings with boca bearings!

This is the only answer. I’ve done it myself many times on baitcasters and spinning reels and on some reels the parts are just too small. Lose a tiny spring and you will be cursing the world to pieces. I’ve also tried boca berrings and was not impressed.
