This is a giant plus. When I tell people I wear the same pair of socks for 7-10 days during turkey season when I hunt every day and they barely even smell when I decide to swap out for a fresh pair they can't comprehend it.

The only way I can believe this is if you also have breathable boots. In essentially air-tight water-proof boots, the wicking process of the Merino wool wouldn't matter, all the foot sweat is still in your sock.

the smell is more from bacterial growth than it is from the sweat. the wool is naturally anti microbial.

They're just regular muck boots. The inside of the boot stinks, but the sock doesn't.

You are getting a lot of recommendations for Smart Wool but I hope their socks are better than their gloves.

I have had two pair of Smart Wool gloves and I wore holes in both of them with very light use.

Farm to Feet wool socks are awesome.

Came to recommend this.

Got a couple pairs as a gift last year and have since replaced almost all my socks with them.

Icebreakers I wear them every day in my work boots. But a word of warning they wick moisture so well that if you put on cotton socks after wearing wool for a while your feet will feel like you been wading in water.

I don’t think you can go wrong with Smartwool, Darn Tough or Fits socks. They all make a quality product in my experience.

I don’t pay much attention to brand. Just look at the materials and make sure it has a lot of merino wool. Costco socks used to be ahead of the pack in this regard and I’ve found them to be very warm. Smartwool is fantastic, too, as have been others that were 70%+ merino.

I have three pairs of the redhead ultimate wool socks. They are legit; probably the warmest socks I own. But I only wear them with an oversized boot when I go north or on the rare occasion when it is the teens here. I don’t know if we are talking about the same sock, but the ones I have are great. But they are thick and if you wear them with your regular boots you will be miserable. I only wear them with a pair of size 13 (one size bigger than normal) 1000 gram alpha burlies. So only when it is super cold. And I don’t want to walk far, because if you do your feet will sweat and then freeze. As little as I wear them the socks and the boots will outlive me. For normal southern cold weather I like the smartwool hiking socks or just a synthetic blend work sock. Most days I just wear a synthetic blend dickie sock; and unless I am going to be going through water, merrell trail shoes.

I've worn, and like, the Smartwool and Darn Tough socks that've already been endorsed. In the last few years I've found I like my socks to stay up on my calves so the cold inner surface of my boot doesn't rub against bare skin of my calves. Consequently, when it's really cold, I put on this pair of merino wool ski socks. They also function as compression socks so my feet don't swell so bad after prolonged sitting.

Smartwool fit more comfortably than anything else I own, BUT they also wear the fastest and the heel is usually worn through while the rest of the sock is in great shape.

This. These are the very best most comfortable socks you will find anywhere and you can wear them all year summer or winter.
