They always have some damn good sales on those. For a casual user, it is a good option. I am pretty rough on my tools, and the Milwaukee and Mikita stuff has held up alright

I'm a fan of a drill with a cord. A $60 corded drill will work better than any cordless one.
So get a cordless that doesn't break the bank. I don't think there is any real difference any more.

two words "Lifetime Warranty"
My ridgid set I bought two years ago has been a work horse through a floor to ceiling home remodel and hasn't had one issue so far. Battery life is more than I need as well.
I got this one Ridgid Drill/Driver Combo. Sold the radio for $30 on craigslist straight out the box but I tested it and it does put out some good sound if you need a little yard radio.

Most higher-end 18V+ cordless drills will develop more torque than even a very good 1/2" corded drill.

How are those battery impacts? Viable air replacement or what?

Same here. I have two. One is really old that was my Dad's. He brought it with him when we re-did my deck a few years ago, and just left it with me since he had just bought a new one. The other I bought, and it is more powerful, and a few years newer. I never seemed to have a good charge on my cordless ones, and I have like 2-4 long extension cords and it is just easier to grab one of those. I can get to anywhere on my property with 2 of them connected together, so cordless is just a hassle.
I mounted some shelving in some solid cinder block walls in my basement several years back. My cordless wouldn't do a thing to it. Plugged in my drill and it knocked it out.

I have a crafstman 19.2v set with the reciprocating saw, drill, skill saw and fluorescent light and have been very pleased. Came with a big hard case to carry everything.

I have a 3/8" Milwaukee 12v impact and it works great. Been VERY happy with it. I got the 12v because I already have a pneumatic 1/2" impact, and because I can fit it in a bunch more places since it is small

I have learned a lot from this thread. Great Job guys.
I am not a contractor but I am always doing things around the house and on my 1978 Vette.
It seems like I always need something done so the impact and drill is a no brainer. Are the saws worth buying if I wont use them but a couple of time a year?

Get a cheap corded saw for that. They work just the same, if not better.
Be careful using an impact on an old car, especially a fiberglass one. Only place I'd use it on a vette would be metal to metal through metal. They do make a 1/4" impact also with less torque. The 12v Milwaukee lineup is awesome for the sheer amount of things available. Whenever you get an impact, make sure you order the square head and not the hex head so you can use it with your sockets. You don't need impact sockets for that

HT, do they make an electric/battery impact wrench capable of breaking RV lugs?
Posted on 4/8/14 at 10:00 am to N2cars
Yes, a bunch of manufacturers make 24v and 28v impact wrenches. Milwaukee, Dewalt, Ingersoll Rand, and a few others. You are looking at $450 minimum last time I checked. They are heavy as hell, but go to like 450 or 650ft-lbs

I have an IR 19V 1/2" impact gun and it will handle just about any bolt or lugnut you'll run into. My air impacts collect dust because it's so much more convenient withthe cordless.

If you are just around the house a corded saw will serve you better. I use my cordless at the deer lease a lot. They work great, but they are battery hogs.

I have a $250 Milwaukee sawzall and a $25 Harbor Frieght. The HF is a POS, but it kinda works. Would be fine for casual use
