Can only 1 side go down by itself? Sometimes I want to sit alone

It is already on Lincoln Trucks.

A tailgate is a tailgate. These variations from Dodge and GMC are gimmicky. One of the manufacturers may eventually hit on a concept that customers like, but most of this seems like conceptual experimentation in the marketplace.
I do like the step bumper on the Chevys and see their ugly 2020 Silverado will come with a step in front of the wheel well too.

Don't care for the split, but do like swinging tailgates.

I hate GM/Chevy's marketing department, I really wish Ford would make a commercial of just a guy opening up the new GM tailgate and destroying it against his trailer hitch.

Yea...you put the tailgate down in that situation.

I'd rather walk than drive a Dodge.

Bringing back that old Lincoln Blackwood concept I see. I like it. Hope it sticks. Better than that 12 step lowering shite GM has

I think its a good idea as well. could have been better executed though.
put the seam down the middle and have the latch split as well so you could independently open either side

gotta do the belly flop deal in that scenario, its the only way
Posted on 2/7/19 at 11:51 am to lsupride87
For me personally, I don't see the point. I have never thought, "I wish this tailgate wasn't in the way like this. If only it opened to the side."

You never thought “frick this” as your are belly flipped over your tailgate or forced to climb in your bed to get something?
I wasn’t smart enough to think about fixing it, but now that I see this I realize it now

No, but I am 6'4". I hardly ever have to get in my bed to get anything.

I just reach into my bed if I need something back there

Nope. I put the tailgate down then unload! They do fold down ya know!
