Checked the Food Board, no luck. Caught a mess of rainbow trout from the BREC ponds the last two days. Will probably grill whole, any ideas.
TIA

They have stocked them the last few years, ask you to only keep four each. The ones we have caught range from 11" to 15".

One of my son's has one on his Iphone, may try. They stock four of the ponds.

Filet them and remove the line of bones that run parallel to the spine above it. They will go back about 3-4 inches.
Leave the skin on them.
My favorite way is to pan fry with butter, salt, pepper, a little lemon juice and thyme.
Also you can smoke them whole and make a great dip. Get the meat off the trout and combine with lemon, dill, salt, in cream cheese.

Am I correct in assuming four per fisherperson. Tuesday two of us had four each and two nice young guys were out surveying the fishermen. and we told them we had eight. Some of them have been tagged and can enter into a drawing.

yes.. but if the fly fishing nazis see you keeping them.....

These are fishery raised fish and the fly fishers will have their arm fall off without a strike and believe they all died or no fish were stocked. The two days my sons and I have fished, everyone using floating faux salmon eggs and floating crappie nibbles have no problem in a hour getting four each. The fly fishers and the others are WTF.

my son wants to try to keep two alive this year... have an aquarium we can keep real cool... all year..

Good luck, all the ones we hooked were deep and bleed. Had to use needlenose pliers on them. Maybe with barbs bent down it could be possible.

back when the katritian village was right next to the ponds stocked off choctaw.... some fly fishers about had strokes - when some kids chummed em up with corn and then proceeded to fill a 5 gallon bucket with a cast net...

Old gentleman next to us one day was using mini marshmellows and canned sweet corn, he did pretty good. Your son may be like my youngest, anything that is live he figures is keepable.

At the one on Burbank? What did you use for bait?
I wish I would've brought my black Lab and my fishing rod to my son's soccer tournament last week. There is a fishing pond and a retriever training pond at Burbank.
