Question about carry insurance

So, I'm finally getting my enhanced permit. I've always carried but with the crazy leftists throwing people in jail for defending themselves lately, I decided that I should get the permit to be more protected against legal issues if, God forbid, I ever have to actually shoot someone. In my required class, the instructor mentioned legal insurance for carrying. I know that this is offered by USCCA, just wondering if GOA has something similar or if there is a better option to USCCA. Thoughts?

I did extensive research and USCCA provided the best coverage. If you Google "concealed carry insurance", there are several articles comparing the policies. USCCA had the highest liability limits.

I have USSCA, but interested in seeing other responses to see if there is a better option out there.

I trust you boys over anything on the information superhighway.

Would a personal umbrella not cover you here? Idk, but I’d get a more extensive policy if you could rather than just a carry policy.

When I did my LTC course, they came in and pitched American Law Shield. It sounded great, and I had never heard of it before then researched the company. They refused to give any examples of cases they represented or how they were ruled on. Then read some more, and most people didn't like the ambiguity in what they sold vs. actual case work. I cancelled the insurance.
Does USCCA provide any case examples? Is this type of insurance something you can rely on in the event you have to use your weapon.

USCCA here, but every time I've researched, there were pros and cons to each. I haven't looked at it in a while.

We must have taken the same enhanced class They had a USCCA guy come in and tell horror story after horror story trying to get everyone to sign up. I do think it's one of the better companies.

Heads up.
Most people think this insurance is some kind of liability insurance in case you get a judgement against you. The policies I have researched are NOT that. They are pre-paid legal policies that pay for your lawyer.
And they all have limits. They will cover the lawyer to come if you get interviewed or arrested and probably an Initial Appearance and then they will max out.
Criminal Defense lawyers are insanely expensive. As in $100,000 or more if you go to trial.
Read the fine print before you buy one of those policies and verify what you are getting. Your Homeowners may have some personal liability coverage as well.

USCCA is both liability coverage and coverage for defense costs. USCCA has a 2 million liability limit and that is one of the main reasons I went with it. You are correct that there are several options that do not provide liability coverage though.

The first criterion (assuming you've picked a company that is financially sound) is to make sure you get to pick your lawyer. Having the "insurance company pick, approve or provide an attorney is a real conflict of interest.

Best review I have seen out there. Gives pros and cons of each and provides pretty good in depth reasoning for why or why you shouldn't go with each on his list.

In Mississippi, everyone can get a permit (if they haven't had felonies) by just paying a fee. Or, you can take the 8 hour course, pass the written test and shooting test to get the enhanced permit which carries the reciprocity with other states.

Thank you. Had never heard of that format.

No offense to you or to the lawyer who wrote that review, but three observations:
1. Every CCW coverage firm has attorneys on staff. So any of them could get a lawyer to write a review.
2. CCW Safe is among the worst for CCW coverage. You have to use one of their attorneys, or else get their approval of your attorney.
3. If you allow the CCW "insurance" company to pick your lawyer, and if they arrange a plea bargain that you're not willing to accept (this avoids a trial, and keeps lawyer expenses to a bare minimum), you policy/contract probably says you have no coverage from that point on.
Check our Armed Citizens Legal Defense Network and USCCA. Both are legit - and you get to pick your own attorney (If you don't have one, they have vetted lists of attorneys that you can choose from, if you wish).
