I carry a small tarp to lay meat out on for butchering in the field.

I need to add that to my kit. I usually lay the quarters on the inside of the hide when I'm deboning but you run out of room quick. A lil tent footprint or ground sheet would probably be perfect.

I keep a small tarp as well for quartering in the field.

If you are a weight watcher, you can also use a large trash bag ripped open on one end.

Most people have hit on everything that I carry. But one thing I added a few years ago was some small handheld snips. Sometimes walking in before sunlight with my climber, i'll get hung up on vines or something. Or I'll find the thickest area I have to walk through. I keep those snips in the front pocket of my orange vest and they come in handy.

I bring 2 contractor garbage bags. Use one to lay meat on and debone. Put the meat in the other. Then take the one the meat was on, turn inside out, and use to double-bag the meat bag. Keeps your pack clean that way.

If I intend on being farther than 1mile from a buggy or truck/road I will pack. 20ft of para cord Small lighter with duck tape wrapped around it Water proof matches with case and duck tape around it. Some quick clot Some flagging and paper towels Water purification tabs Contractor trash bag Spare batteries for my headlamp Some fire starter Multi tool Small medicine bottle with some pain killers It all fits in a small ditty bag that’s about the size of a Nalgene bottle. And with it I can pretty much turn what would be a miserable night into not so miserable. Get a Garmin watch it has a compass and you can use it for backup navigation with the gps
Damn baw, you tryna win season 13 of Alone?

It's best to use something breathable. Garbage bags will trap more heat and moisture. You end up with more rapid bacteria growth in a garbage bag. If it's only in it for a short time it probably isn't much of a concern, though.

lol like I said if farther than 1 mile, although I find myself throwing that bag into my pack for all types of activities. Almost every item except fire starter gets used all the time as some some sort of make do repair. I forget I have 5-6 small zip ties and some no sew patches in there as well.
I didn’t win season 13 of alone but I did win the fastest to burn a string 1ft of the ground using only one match in a church group called royal rangers when I was 12 or 13!!
