I had a guy come out when I was flipping his dock that had lights on it, kind of practicing for a tournament, I say kinda cuz I realize how dumb it is to go out and flip one of the 5 lit boat docks while practicint for a tournament, knowing you and everyone else will fish them that night, no matter what happens "pre fishing".
He said the dogs go crazy when the dock gets fished, he just moved there. I told him I'd leave, but he may want to prepare for about 20 people to fish there in the tournament a couple nights later. He sa8d,no it will be OK, they will understand and not fish my dock, that's on a public lake lol.

So I left and hooked the biggest bass I've ever felt, it was dark so I only saw him flash for a second but I saw enough to know that it was a bass around 10 pounds. Bit in 15 foot of water on a rock pile on a bridge. The fish straightened a 4/0 thick bmf flipping hook. The straight shank one. I had 50 pound braid on..

PS has anyone ever heard of that exact hook, made by reaction innovations , get straightened out alm9st all the way, and get off?
For those who aren't familiar with that hook, Its straight shank and thick as frick.

Moral of the story, that dickhead almost became my best friend with that stunt he pulled that caused me to change spots and hook my would be pb. Now I hate him more and for the life of me, I can't stop thinking about that fish.
It's been over 5 years. Lol

Don't use anything but Superlines with straight braid, Tactical bassin talks about how only the Superline hooks don't give when flipping spooled with braid.

Pier is private and also the owner is liable for anybody/anything on it. Also homeowners covers damage/liability on it. Found this out the tough way in a suit.

Hint for LA residents, always keep lights on your pier at night, and have gates on walkways to keep out trespassers and gators.

Usually it is a few dickheads that screw it up for everyone else.

hints to get along

If there are swimmers there are not fish, just move on

If you get snagged on a pier retrieve your lure, kids getting hooked with crankbaits while climbing pisses folks off.

Turn down your radio and dont be loudly cursing if folks are home.

Do not throw your trash out the boat.

Just generally be courteous and it will be returned

Did you thumb down the spool? What the hell kind of drag were you using? My PB is a 10.75 and that was on a 3/0 Gama worm hook and braid. I was nervous, but with the right drag setting you shouldn't be straightening out decent hooks.

I think you snagged the dock. A 10 pounder won’t straighten out a hook
