Sup guys. Been outside today stripping down an old rear engine snapper. 33" 12 hp.

About 20 years old. Kept inside. Parts will run be $100 with some paint on the deck. It's in good shape. Just needs some TLC.

Looking to flip and sell. What would y'all think it's worth. Would anyone give $200 for an older lawn mower?

Trying to ascertain if it's worth it to flip and sell.

Thanks

10-4.

I wouldn't sell junk hence wanting to out enough in it to give it a good rebuild. That just cost more and if it wasn't worth it i would have dropped it.

Thanks

I would have given 200 for it in a heartbeat a couple weeks ago. Ended up with an old John deere that's a little too big for my yard but the price was right.

Also look at Facebook marketplace and search for similar mowers and see what others are asking. That should give you ideas about where to start on asking price.

Grew up using one of those but I think it was 42”.

It was a tank and lasted at least 15 years, so much so the guy that bought our house stipulated it was part of the deal.

I bet you could get $200 for it. I wouldn’t repaint it, IMO that makes me think you’re trying to cover something up.

I wondered that, but I already primed the side of the deck that had some surface rust. Looks crappy with just primer. Not the whole mower, just where I primer'd

Not certain, but I think 33" is the largest single blade they offered. I had a 30" years ago and was a much less PITA than a multiple blade mower. Just not as fast and took longer (30 vs 46)

Does the thing cut grass? If so I'm interested.

A new 33” is like $1400? If you can get it purring and looking in decent shape it’s worth $500 easily.

It runs now.

Or did before I stripped the carb and pulled the battery and belt and cleaned everything out.

I'll order the parts and reassemble.

They get the Toyota Tacoma treatment in pricing. I have seen old ones listed in the $7-800 range on marketplace. Anything running below $500 looks to get snapped up quick.

What he said ,, my brother just found one pretty much stole it for a 100$ because it was not running. He was looking and was willing to pay 500$ for one because they are built like a tank, easy to service or repair.
For the smaller lots they are perfect, but I used one as a kid to cut ~8 acres with one between our place my grandparents and uncles plus a few yards for hire. Yes I hated them things at the time!!!

i used to buy those for $100 and put around $50 into them and they would sell for $500 rough looking and if they looked nice they would sell very fast at $700

the market for them has softened though since people want mowers that look pretty and prefer the tractor style looks

i would ask how in the world are you spending $100 on parts when the only wearable parts on them are a $20 belt, $10 blade, maybe a $10 tube or two for the tires, and $15 drive disk?

Paint it but take some pics before you do, be honest about it. Coupled with the new parts, any buyer will likely find you credible and not be too concerned.
