Check out seasons for the game you like to hunt and state gun laws that should help narrow your list

Not really. If someone moves here they pretty well know where to avoid. BR and NO have just as bad ghettos.

That's where we are now, and definitely don't mind living here.

Not familiar at all with what's available in the area. Can you offer some insight? I assume deer and possibly turkey hunting with some bass fishing and trout fishing. Am I way off base? Any ducks?

Probably would live outside the district so I don't think this would be an issue.

If you are a country boy like myself you can automatically throw out

Houston
Atlanta
DC
Los Angeles
Dallas

If you are from Louisiana, you won't like the winters in

Richmond, VA
Minnesotta
Cincinatti

If you don't like getting mugged or beaten for $43 throw out

Memphis

If you are a good reader, and don't like being around illiterate, toothless, redneck folk, forget about

Birmingham
Gainesville

If you don't like tornados, stay away from

Oklahoma City
Little Rock

That leaves Shreveport, Durham, and Augusta

Durham County does not allow dog hunting for deer, has a limit of only 2 turkeys per year, is 3-4 hours from the coast, and people there love fricking basketball.

Shreveport is very close to both to Texas and Arkansas

Augusta has a golf course that doesn't allow women or black people, and has good access to great fishing and hunting.

It's a fricking no-brainer.

If you live in the right areas of Houston you can avoid the traffic and cluster frick associated with it for the most part.

This, if you don't want to fight the traffic, live in town. If you want to live like you would in most of LA, move to the burbs like Kingwood or the Woodlands. Just be ready for the anal raping every commute. If you don't want to give up living like a true Redneck, move to Crosby.

Outdoor ops in Houston smoke every other city on the list.

I just like LR as a whole.

You'd more than likely get to know people and join a duck club, 2hrs NE/E/SE.

Lake Ouachita and Hamilton are both gorgeous and 2hrs W.

Trout fishing 2hrs. NW/N/NE.

It's really similar to BR when it comes to distances you'll have to travel to hunt/fish, and a lot of hard to beat places are less than 2hrs.
