Question for you guys - why couldnt i just tack weld my pistol suppressor to my 10” PCC which would make it 16”. Instead of having to do the paperwork to sbr it. Could that be a option?

A couple tack welds wouldn’t be sufficient

Youd have to do a pin and weld to make it permanent like they do with 14.5" barrels.

Then that silencer is married to that barrel forever. Right?
Not something I’d do with a 4 figure silencer

Love how this is a rule to “ensure you can’t easily convert it to an NFA item” when with the same tool that would remove a muzzle device, you can swap the entire barrel or just swap out the upper out easily and have an NFA device. So in reality forcing people to pin and weld on short barrels to get to 16 stops no one from using a shorter barrel if they wanted to for something nefarious.
It’s all a joke.

Nothing stops people from sawing off the barrel and stock on a Remington 870 either.
The entire law is stupid regarding short barrels

I think this could be a work around for the time being. It's a round buffer tube.
What do ya'll think?

Wait, I just can’t pull my brace off? I need to change the tube too? frick these assholes.
I’d wait and see OP. SCOTUS has already ruled against federal agencies writing rules with their EPA ruling. Precedent has been set. The only thing I’m not sure of is the ATF is rescinding the brace rule they issued.

Do we know when the ruling will be posted? I saw the regulation but it doesn’t go into effect until it is posted or whatever.

Yeah, I think to be safe, you need a smooth, round pistol buffer.
I found a site with cheap ones in stock, $9.99 for just the tube. I think you can cannibalize the rest. They want $15 for tubes that 'definitely' have the foam, the ten dollar ones say 'may or may not have foam cover'. I still have a big length of pipe insulation I plan to use, just in case.

Guess what else. Say you have 3 spare stocks and some buffer tubes for your 16" laying around, if you have an ar pistol in your house I think they can consider it "intent". Gotta get rid of them all.

if the buffer has a flat on the end that could technically be considered a surface to shoulder the firearm.

Here's the relevant part
quote:
Rearward Attachment (iv) whether the surface area that allows the weapon to be fired from the shoulder is created by a buffer tube, receiver extension, or any other accessory, component, or other rearward attachment that is necessary for the cycle of operations;
An AR-type pistol with a standard 6 to 6-1/2 inch buffer tube may not be designed and intended to be fired from the shoulder even if the buffer tube provides surface area that allows the firearm to be shoulder fired because it is required for the cycle of operations of the weapon.

Yeah, the way to CYA with this- swap out the buffer tubes on the pistols, and find a new home for the braces and tube assemblies.
The brace is only contraband if you own an AR pistol. If your uncle Joe doesn't have one, he's at zero risk of trouble if he simply takes a box of braces and tubes, and sticks it in his attic.

Yeah. Very horse sh\t. Hopefully it will get turned over. I've been e-mailing our senators. I'm over it though, they will never stop. There will come a time when we will have to stand up for ourselves.

The solution is very simple, abolish the ATF and problem is solved.
