My season is over, thinking of next year.
(I hunt MS, hard woods and pines, no shot over 200yds. All rifle, but I do have a bow)

1. What lock on/hang on’s Do you use, and what would you buy if you were in the market?

2. What climber do you use, and what would you buy today?

Thanks for the feedback, and good luck if you still have hunts to make.

API climber, but it's old. Not sure if the new ones from BOSS are as good. One of the few things I own that's not for sale.

I've got a stack of harnesses from the ladder stands I've bought, so I'm good there.

I use a summit viper climber. It’s by far the most comfortable climber I’ve ever had, but not the easiest to climb with. I put molle straps on it, and it’s very light and easy to carry. This isn’t my picture, but essentially how mine looks:

You hunting private or public land? If private land and are leaving loc ons all season, definitely look into milleniums for comfort. I use a big game loc on thats like 10 lbs and muddy sticks, but if you're leaving them and not packing in and out, weight doesn't make much difference. Summit viper climber is also my climber of choice.

One investment I made this year for my stands that stay out is life lines. Absolutely worth every penny! I've been wearing harnesses for the past couple years, but they wouldn't do me much good when I'm climbing up or stepping into my stands. I would always strap in when I get in the stand. Now I'm attached before I leave the ground.

Life lines are a must. If you hunt enough, you will fall.

Looks like an Ol' Man, but I don't see where you put your feet to climb. Under the braces?

I use a Summit Viper, about 6 years old, the newer ones have some upgrades to them that I'll likely make.

After looking at some replacement parts for my worn out seat and cables, I've discovered that I've not been using it as designed, which would make it even more user friendly.

I used an API lockon with climbing sticks this year, set at 24'.

You can get in quietly and getting up that high you will see a lot more deer.

The bungee cord is used to keep your feet inside the stirrups, the tourniquet buckle is supposed to be used around the tree after you get to your height to keep the stand from accidentally sliding. I was just using them for packing it in and out, so more safety than user friendly.

I hunt public so I use a summit specialist sd open front because it's like 15 pounds and with the replacement seat, it's very comfortable. If I was on private land, I'd get a summit 180 max climber. Had one and some a-hole stole it out of sherburne. By far the most comfortable stand I've hunted but it's a little bulky.
Thinking about adding a few accessories from third hand to my setup thanks to the OB on the bow holders thread
I use the hunter safety systems vest harness that Yellerhammer posted above and it's legit. One of the best hunting tools that I've bought by far. I recommend it to anyone.

i had a super light api mini grand slam (may not have been the grand slam, but it was a small version of it) stolen out of sherburne about 15 years ago...Some worthless POS needed it more than me I guess. On my summit viper, I use the thirdhand straps and that is definitely worth the $20...climber is rock solid once you get to your height and helps keep the stand packed tightly when going in and out too. I want to get the bow holder for it. May wait until next season though.

I had mine cable locked to a tree. I know you're not supposed to do that but there was plenty other trees to climb in the area if someone else wanted to hunt there. It wasn't a public land goer though. It was someone off the neighboring hunting club I'm about 95% sure. They had to use bolt cutters to cut the cable and take it. That 180 max is almost $400 too. I'm still mad about that. Mostly at myself for leaving it, but you live and you learn.
I sharpen the "spikes" on my climbers so they bite better in the tree so I don't have a need for those straps. But I do like the bow carrier for walking in and out that converts to a gear holder once you get up. Much easier than fighting the screw in holders.
