Places to fish in Baton Rouge

I am looking for places to fish around Baton rouge and was wondering if anyone had any specific places I should try? And I don't own a boat. Thanks

A long long time ago, we came up with a great idea to have a map of BR with all the best fishing holes marked. Unfortunately, it turned out to be a not so great idea. Lurkers showed up to every spot and trashed them, so we decided to retire the thread at that point. My advice to you is look at aerial maps of the area and figure it out yourself.

BREC park, Perkins at Kenilworth.
Yes, there is a pond there that is accessible by foot and it does hold some fish.

The Oak Villa Lake is open to the public only when BREC is holding softball league play or a tournament.
For fishing in BREC ponds, you do not need a special license, just a basic fishing license from the Department of Wildlife and Fisheries.
REMEMBER THE FOLLOWING RULES:
BREC offers bank fishing only
No trout lines
La. Wildlife and Fisheries laws must be followed
Parks close at dark

yeah.. I was managing a lake many moons ago that was horribly overstocked with florida strains...
we moved about 3 to 500 fish there... for about 4-5 years... it was INSANE in there... caught a few above 8 and one very very close to ten(relocated her behind me house)...
then when they did the road construction project they jacked with the water flow..... downhill since.. still good but nothing like it was..
lil choupique and a buddy caught some of the biggest sac au lait i have ever seen there too... all in ONE little spot...

Yes! The one with the bridge going over it.. I have caught quite a few nice fish in there in the past but haven't been in the past few years.

Pennington biomedical research on perkins. PArk in the back by Pollard and wildlife and fisheries. Hop a fence at night and enjoy. Watch for the golf carts- easy to out run. At least when we were kids. They do some crazy things to that pond- caught some slabs almost every cast
