What's some really good options as opposed to the $$$ Trijicon route?

I have two Vortex Venoms but just looking for some other recommendations. Full disclosure, the vortex optics came already mounted with these pistols.

The Leupold DP pro has some good reviews and a few of my friends have used them with success.

It’s amazing how it used to only be Burris or Trijicon and now there are a bunch of options.

If you aren’t wanting to spend Trijicon money Holosun is the answer. Shake awake, solor panel charging and a side battery tray so that you don’t have to re-zero when you eventually have to change a battery. The DPP is another option with a bigger window that can generally be found for under $400 dollars.

I have a Trijicon RMR and the next two I buy will be a DPP for my FNX-45 tactical and Trijicon SRO if I decide to buy a Shadow 2 orange for USPSA Carry Optics

I just mounted a swampfox sentinel on my 43x. First time for a pistol optic but so far so good.

I have the Delta Point on my 10 mm. So far it’s held zero and had a good sight picture.

I've got a SIG Romeo 1 on my pistol and I can't say enough about how much I like it. I zeroed it when I got the pistol and have put an average of about 100 rounds a week through it since I bought it and I've owned it for almost two years. The zero has not moved one iota. I have no idea what the battery life on it is. I change it every 6 months and it's never gone dead. The design of it is such that normal maintenance, battery swaps, cleaning, etc. don't affect the zero.

I prefer the simple red dot over the fancy reticles. I don't really do precision target shooting with pistols, so I'm not really worried about putting 3 in a dime at 50 yards. 2 in a pie plate is plenty good enough and the dot is less to process if I really need to make that pie plate stop doing whatever it is that has made me decide to shoot it.

My only real gripe about it is that I definitely don't work on proficiency with just the iron sights on that pistol as much as I probably should. I still shoot open sights on other pistols, though.

Hell, I didn't even really want the thing, but I got a great deal on the pistol/sight combo, basically getting the optic for only $100 over the price of the bare pistol, so I jumped on it. Now I want all of my pistols to have them. Even the revolvers.

A lot of good options mentioned in this thread. One thing to keep in mind is they don't all have the same mounting pattern. So if you want one that doesn't have your pistol's mounting pattern you will need an adapter plate. Those will be an additional cost and raise the optic higher.

Holosun is very good.

Swampfox is the new guy, but they have the best product for the price, in my opinion.

I have one on my Canik SC as well. It's very impressive.

For OP, Vortex uses a different mounting pattern than what has become most popular - Trijicon footprint. Holosun and Swampfox both use the Trijicon mounting patterns.

If you're replacing the Venom, look at the Liberty and Justice from Swampfox. Liberty if you're carrying concealed, Justice if you're not.
