Recently spent a week out west and visited Zion, Bryce Canyon and the North Rim of the Grand Canyon. Probably more suited to the travel board but I thought the Outdoor board would enjoy. Just some random shots of the scenery. And yes I purposely left out all pictures of wife and daughter.

Awesome, I love Utah, probably my favorite state. Bryce and Zion are on the list for the next visit.

Great pictures. We did the salt lake area in June and had an incredible time. My crew is indoor and heavily A/C dependent but I was able to get them out to see the mountains in a few of the trails right around the city.

The drive from the east side to the west side of Zion is pretty incredible. I honestly enjoyed Bryce Canyon more though. Probably had a little to do with the huge amount of people in Zion. We hiked the Narrows in Zion and started about 7 in the morning and hiked about 4 miles in. On the way back out it was an incredible amount of people in the canyon.

Great pics. I did a MC trip out there a few years ago and loved it. I hit all 4 NP in southern Utah and it’s just otherworldly. The could fence it all in and call it a NP. Tent camped in Moab. Your pics make me want to go back!

Add the North Rim of the Grand Canyon to a South Utah trip. Much better than South Rim.

Slot canyons we hiked. It was a little dicey because there were flash flood watches everyday we were there.

Lake Powell is about dried up.

Some fantastic pictures, thanks for sharing them! I definitely want to get up there at some point in the next couple years. I keep reading about how low Lake Powell is but that looks even worse than I thought.

Did this exact trip several years ago, and want to do it again with the kids. How did you go about getting in and about Zion for hiking? Where all did you stay for best access to the 3 NPs you visited? Curious as I know they've changed some things and crowds have grown exponentially.

For those that come, get up early for sunrise at Bryce Canyon. It's worth it.

Honestly, the best park in the state is Capitol Reef. But it doesn't get the love because 1). There isn't really the town there to support in infrastructure and 2). There aren't really the easily accessible landmarks there like all the other parks. Sure you've got the temple of the sun and the moon, but they really require a 4wd to access them. But there are tons of "unknown" hikes and excursions that you can adventure off and do. You just have to find them.

I love Bryce too, and took my wife there on our first date, but 90% of most people only see the main amphitheater. Additionally, there's lots of cool stuff to see and do there outside of the park.

And you're 100% right about Zion. We don't even bother with main canyon anymore. Too many people. It's just a Junk Show these days. Too many folks that want to get a selfie in the narrows and a selfie on top of Angles landing. Yawn. The best part of Zion is the eastern half. Park at any turn out at start walking. It's amazing what you might find...

And I probably shouldn't post this, but I will, for those that are traveling between Bryce and Zion on US89, the Sevire river parallels the road most of the way. Most of it is private property, but there is a small section where the state has done a rehab program and you can fish. A small spinning rod at 4-6 lb test and a handful of spinners is all you need. They're pretty serious about trespass laws here, so double check access before you go.

Google maps

Another place that's an awesome stop and there is some sneaky good fishing is Calf Creek Falls. It's a 6 mile hike round trip. It's mostly sand, but over flat ground most of the way. You can fish in the plunge pool of the falls and freak out the other tourists. lol.

Not my video

Edit: Those beaver ponds they fish at the end are $$$$

Ages ago, my one of my fishing buddies got helicoptered into that canyon to do some survey work. He said it was pretty awesome.

Great pictures. I’m doing that same trip in November except for going to the South Rim and not the North. How was the travel from place to place? Any recommended hotels or lodges to stay?

News flash. Utah is a desert state. My buddy who works for DNR said they shocked a 6 lb brown trout out of that "ditch"...
