Damn that's a good deal. I'm torn between the new revo inshore and a lews.

No votes for the curado? That's all I use and have been nothing but satisfied.

That being said, I want a Calcutta this year.

No votes for Penn?

I've beat the crap out of my 260 Slammer and it's still going strong.

Reeled in a 19 lb cobia on it last year while trout fishing. Handled it like a champ.

That being said, it isn't as smooth as my shimano

The old ones hold the #1 in my book right now.I'm going to give the Revo inshore a try.

I fish a Penn slammer 360 and have caught all kinds of fish on that thing. I love it as a spinning option. I think they stopped making them though and combined the spinfisher and slammer lines into a new reel.

chronarch = last Curado model. They're legit.

I know, supposedly the internals on the new Curado's aren't what they used to be, damn shame because I have the last two models and you can't beat them IMO. I was going to pick up the Abu Inshore but they didn't have one instock and I'm impatient. My last two Calcuttas haven't held up well at all, but I still love my silver one

Penns are durable work horse reels, but so are Shimano's and they just out class the Penns. Get a rod and reel combo with a Shimano at bass pro or Academy. Or get an Allstar or better rod on your own. I have been finding Sedona's at Walmart in the pine belt for 30 bucks on clearance. Shimano's should never be on clearence.

also, Bass pro has a 50 buck baitcasting combo they just emailed me.

The shimano Sahara 2500 is one of the smoothest spin reels I've ever fished with.

It's a little light for some of the stuff we try to do, but damn one of the best trout reels I've fished with.
It just eats up the Penn when it comes to smooth reeling and casting ability.

I'd love a Curado though

I hate how the reel handle on those isn't fixed in one position. The ball joint allows the handle to move way too much while you are reeling.

I will be fishing redfish, and trout mostly. I'm trying not to spend more than $250 on the reel

If you want a spinning reel, that Shimano Stradic that I posted a pic of is a bad mf. I threw mine on a Falcon Coastal Wade Fisher and love it

Stradic, $199

I've got a Revo Inshore and a Shimano Cardiff. Really can't say which is better because I love them both.

And check out Powell rods. Tremendous rod for the $$.

Everybody rags on the new curado's but I love mine. I fish curado's, chronarchs and stratics for my bass fishing setups. I'm a falcon cara, falcon lowrider or shimano crucial guy for my rods. I had an Abu Garcia orra inshore, it was a piece. I know it wasn't the Revo inshore but for $149.99 I expect a reel to last longer than 6 fishing trips before the anti reverse wears out. I somehow lost left or had all my salt water tackle stolen over the years. I looking at the falcon coastal rods with a curado reel for my saltwater setups.

I don't spend but $100 on my reels and have a nice collection of symetre's. Pair them with st Croix mojo inshore rods and you're in business. $230 for a great setup.

Dropped all my decent reels off at Superior to get cleaned and serviced today. After bass fishing this past weekend, I was down to one functioning baitcaster and it was going down fast.

A good 8 years without a cleaning or a servicing ain't too bad.

I admired and fondled the new Calcuttas and could be talked into one with a little help.

The reels consisted of an old Green Curado, a Daiwa Viento, and a pair of Shimano Cardiffs.
