We are staying in one of the houses circled. As you can see, its right next to the rocks. I bet fishing should be pretty decent hopefully.

What would you be casting?

You can catch sand fleas and put them on the bottom

I think I had some relatives stay there one time. Our place is right across from the Racetrack but I would drive over there. I think that week was the only time I have ever fished in-shore in Destin since we typically go offshore. On point, I fished the jetties with a gold Spoon and caught several Reds and we caught some Pompano in the surf. Also, one night a dude set-up a heavy surf rod right by those houses and kayaked out about 100 yards and dropped his bait. He ended up landing a gigantor Bull Shark. Maybe 400 pounds. Pretty much ended me ever wanting to get in the gulf after that.

Those sharks are in the water all the time, how often do they bite compared to the number of people in the water. Almost never...

We went on a near shore trip a few years ago and Mrs. Crawfish ended up catching a monster Tiger shark right by the buoy in the pass. That will definitely make you think once or twice about swimming out to the second sandbars.

Go snorkel just past the 1st one in the afternoon and count the stingrays. I mean, just past where people are bobbing up and down. Or, if you want to continue going out there and bobbing up and down, don't go snorkel out there in the afternoon.

I don't venture very far out these days. Heck, I used to fish the surf for trout a shite ton back home in Texas but I almost stopped doing that too. Between the vibrio, the sting rays, the damn little sharks hitting the donut, and the visions of Jaws lurking on the 2nd bar, it's much more fun just to stay in the boat.

Haha. Good chance of catching Giardia if it’s hot and no rain.

Personally I wouldn't even bother with the jetty. Fish shallow in the surf with light tackle and load up on pompano with shrimp pieces on small hooks like you are bream fishing, and keep your eyes out for schooling ladyfish early in the morning. By the late morning, it is too hot to fish, get in the shade and start drinking. Also, the birds will steal your bait when you turn your back. Keep it in a small cooler they can't open. Also the larger cranes will try to get the pompano off your hook for you. good luck, have fun!

PS- do you have access to that lake behind the houses?

On our last trip down that way(Navarre) there were no fleas. Never encountered that before. Hope to find some this month when we go.

I think the largest shark ever caught in Florida was from there and someone caught a mako there recently.

You can catch almost anything there

I would plop a dead shrimp on the bottom of that lake and see if there's redfish in it.
