I live in the city. I have squirrels. And starlings. Both make good hawk food, but the bird is fat and unhuntable during the molting season.

So, what should I look for in a pellet rifle? The last one I shot was a crossman pump some 20 years ago. Obviously, I don't know much about pellet guns today.

I'd like something accurate enough to shoot a squirrel in the head.

What about the ruger blackhawk? It's cheap. LINK

Benjamin with a scope. My next door neighboor in BR used to make head shots on squirrels all the time with this setup. For a peaceful old hippy he sure had a hard on for squirrels.

I have not liked any of the break open types as much as my very old Benjamin Pump. Would buy another.

If an American male over the age of 12 and says he's never shot a Benjamin pellet gun the he needs to move to Canada or France

I have an RWS with a 3-9x32. It is extremely accurate. I used to make head shots on blackbirds in our yard from about 50-60ft.

I've shot a benjamin, but that was over 20 years ago too. Just wondering what to look for nowadays. The ruger seems to get very good reviews on amazon, but the reviews may all be by clueless people.

Gotta Gamo crack barrel (Shadow?)that shoots 1200 fps with 1 crank. BSA 22 special scope. Sent it off to a guy in the Carolinas who tuned it for < $100 (trigger, seals, and more). It's a tack driver used for squirrels in back yard. Get a good gun and tune it is my suggestion.

Buy a Weirach. They're the German company that made Beeman Air Rifles. Beeman lost their exclusive rights with Weirach and now you can buy them straight from the factory

Look up Air Guns of Arizona on google and check them out. Beautiful guns that will drive nails. Bought one for my son 2 yrs ago. Finest pellet gun I've ever shot. They're pricey but will last a lifetime

Why not use a .22 with CB caps? Just as quiet as a pellet gun and more accurate IMO. I use my Winchester lever action .22 on sparrows and starlings on my purple Martin house. No complaints

I have a 1970s vintage Benjamin .22

It needs a little work. Anyone know a shop that works on them in BR or NOLA?

Feedback on today's Crossman Classic 2100 (same one I used decades ago)

The front sight makes it useless. It's this huge low-light fiber thing that is as big around as a boulder when trying to sight in. Forget hitting a squirrel at 60'.

So I tried a scope. The scope rail is located right where I need top put my hand to pump, which then throws off the scope.

A simple blade front sight would totally change my opinion.

Check the front sight first, and perhaps go with a crackbarrel..

I own a Weirach, and a Xiscico B-26-2 Xiscico (chinese version of the beeman). Both are excellent guns, but for some could be considered pricey. I think they're just like anything else you get what you pay for. I can group 1 inch at 35 yards with both guns all day long, I could never do that with my Benjamin that I had as a youngster.
