I have had a Traeger grill but am looking at a Pittboss because it is $300 cheaper. Anyone have a Pittboss? What do you think about it?

I have a Pit Boss Pro 1150. Works really well, no complaints here. The bluetooth kind of sucks. Keep the auger cleared and it will last.
On a friend's heavily used one, I have had to disassemble the auger and remove a plug of wadded pellets. Not difficult, but not a fun job.

I’m looking at the 1250 competition series and I just don’t understand why it’s $300 cheaper than a Traeger Pro 780. It seems too good to be true.
Thank you for the reply.

Z Grills, ftw. Made in same factory as Traeger. Half the price. I’ve used mine hard for 3 years and zero issues.

I have a camp chef and it works fine. Nice quality, it's holding up well.
I really can't say I'm impressed with the quality of the cook though. I'm not sure if it's the pellets I use or what. I just really prefer food done on my primos. The pellet grill is very convenient, but doesn't really do it for me.
Does anyone else feel the same about those grills?

I have a camp chef also. I added a smoke tube to get more flavor. But my wife and kids like it because it’s not overbearing on the smoke flavor.
The new CC has a smoke box to put wood chunks in it. It’s sweet!

Take a good look at the PB 1600 Pro Series Elite. Ive had this pit for 6 months and cook on it just about every weekend. It is by far the nicest grill ive had yet and i have had many. I ordered mine from Lowes and they called me when it came in and i just went and picked it up.The grates are stainless and so easy to clean. Yes it's a little pricey but worth every penny.Hope this helps.

I do. I've responded to other similar threads on here saying as much. I have a Green Mountain and I just can't seem to get any smoke flavor. I've bought and tried using a smoke tube with not much improvement. I've tried starting at lower temps and even putting the meat on during the warmup period, but nothing seems to work.
Maybe my expectations are too high. I know plenty of others that love theirs and Recteq receives almost unanimous praise. Mine just sits in my garage collecting dust. I use my kamado mostly with great results. For low and slow I use my UDS.
To each their own, but I wouldn't buy another one based on my experience with the Green Mountain.

I have their small portable grill and it has been awesome. My neighbor has one of their middle of the road full size options and he loves it, cooks on it all the time.
I also compete in a few events a year and see lots of guys using their grills and they all love them. IMO you really can't go wrong with them. Camp Chef and RecTec also have solid smokers as well.

I agree I wouldn’t get another one. I’d get a ceramic grill.
Big advantage is that my kids and wife can operate the pellet grill when they are off for holidays/summer.

I have the Pit Boss 1150 and previously had a 820 Traeger. Pit Boss is 90% as good for 1/2 the price. Do it

Recteq for the win. Not cheap, but quality product

Team Recteq here. Love mine.

i have a pit boss and got it because of the value. Traeger is more expensive because the name brand. I think pit boss has more features for the price. Its solid.
But for any pellet grill make sure to use temp probes on all quadrants of the grill. DO NOT take the temp it gives you on the controller as the real temp.

Thank you everybody for the information and suggestions.

Here's the truth. Most of the major pellet smokers use many of the same internal parts....

Quoted for truth.
What ever you have, go on amazon and get a remote thermometer of some form or fashion. You won't regret it. They're awesome for overnight cooks when you can check on things while still in bed. LOL.

I bought this Inkbird wifi thermometer a year or so ago and highly recommend it. It has a magnet on the back, which I find extremely handy.
