Seems like a deal until I have to pay $20 per receiver sent to my local FFL...

you'd have to always do that regardless.

So y’all have purchased receivers without using the FFL?

Does your local guy sell receivers for $50?

Might still be a deal.

i always thought if i bought 3, i'd only have to pay the fee once since i'm only filling out one 4473. i was in the store one day and asked, and they made it known it's per serialized item.

$90 turns into $150 real quick.

Several FFls only charge full fee for the first one, then half or less for following items.

So is there an algorithmic approach tk buying things in PSA?

Should you buy a stripped lower today, in hopes of buying a discounted BLEM barrel tomorrow?

I see this with their PSA dagger.

You’ll see a complete dagger gun for $259.

But then you’ll see on separate days a dagger
LOWER for $49
and then a
SLIDE COMPLETE FOR $189
Totaling $238.

I do not want to buy parts piecemeal in hopes that you catch separate parts really cheap when they are selling the complete gun for only 30 dollars more.

Does anyone not mind playing the wait/match game?

Your FFL charges per firearm? If I bought more than one of these my FFL would charge one fee for the background check.

yup. i was like you. one fee for one form/background check.

and it doesn't stop there.

the fees are:

$20 if it's an item they don't stock
$35 if it's an item they do stock
$150 for NFA transfers

they tried to justify the "per item" because of the time it takes to log the item in their books and the time to perform the background check. that's like... 20 minutes worth of work.

not the separate slides or lowers. No. And I am not sure I want the magpulls. I have too many g19 oem mags as it is. I need more guns to put them in.

But there is a reason the sell them separate.

I am betting that you could wait for the lowers to be 39 and slide/bbl to be 159 and you are talking about a $200 g19 clone.

It is noteworthy for sure.

i mean the guy is running a business and needs to make a certain amount over costs to justify being in business. his transfer service is part of that. i'm sure you've paid similar or more baed on per hour to other service based businesses. if you think he's printing money then jump through the hoops to get an FFL and get you some. spoiler alert, there's a reason there isn't an FFL on every corner.

Might want to check with Bayou Pawn if around Baton Rouge;

last I checked, they had a deal with PSA. You talked to them, they would order it and then sell it to you without transfer fee. Note, you had to have them order, and I don't think they honored the daily deal, just the standard price.

As I recall, that was still somewhere around 50 apiece for a lower, but at least it wasn't dealing with the fees. They obviously still do the 4473.

Buying 3 or more in one transaction or buying more than one within a 5 day window can get you a visit from the alphabet squad.

I don't have anything to hide. Building AR's is my hobby. They better not shoot my dog.

I've bought 3x several times, and I've bought 3 firearms at once a couple times too. It's really nobody's business, but I have committed no crimes, and I am not up to anything nefarious.

Like the other guy said, I like building ARs; and I also have a pretty decent collection of interesting (to me) firearms. I've got pistols in 9 Luger, 9 Makarov, 9 Largo, 7.62 Tokarev, 7.65 French Longue, 32 acp, and 45 acp, and one with both 40 S&W and 38 Super options.
And ain't one of them has a plastic frame
