I’m looking to buy an 7.62 AK and the info on the PSAKs sounds pretty good, and they’re in the range of what I’m looking to spend. Anybody here own one or have any better suggestions in the thousand and under price range ?

Not an AK, but I bought a Bear Creek Armory 7.62x39 upper, a cheap complete lower, C Products Duramag magazines specific to that caliber. I also added an enhanced firing pin for $11, I hear BCA is now using them stock.

It was MUCH cheaper than an AK, and it runs as good as my SKS does with this ammo.

Food for thought.

The PSA should be fine. I would probably up my budget $200 and get a Zastava M70. I love mine. My only AK but if SHTF I am grabbing it over my 5 AR’s.

Yeah the zastava are really good ak’s. Also if you can get a AMD-65 made with the Hungarian feg receiver it is a great gun.

Going up 200 is doable - thanks.

Yeah I’m AR heavy and probably should’ve added an AK by now.

That PS47 is a good buy. They had blemished ones for 699.

They work great.

Disclaimer: I have two 7.62 ARs. Kids hunt with on of them.

Fun to build. Cheap.

Gotcha

But since you said this

Yeah I’m AR heavy

It's not a build. You buy the complete upper, and you pick up a couple Duramags.

The 10 rd mags are here LINK for $11.82 apiece;

the upper is here LINK
$244.99

You have ARs, so you have lowers. Grab this, stick it on one of your lowers, and you're good to go.

I bought mine this way, enjoyed it so much I added a complete lower to make it a full gun. But quite honestly, I'd have been happy just swapping uppers, I pull the upper whenever I clean it anyway.

I'm just spending your money ...
actually I ordered another upper for my son. Plan is to use it initially the way I described, eventually pick a lower up. It's a little cheaper than the one I ordered last week!

I have a PSA GF3 AK47. Fun to shoot, reliable. I sent it back to PSA because my sight post was out of alignment but customer service is great. Lifetime warranty follows the firearm.

The PSA models with the FN chf cl barrels have gotten great reviews on accuracy (for an AK) and poi shift when heated up. Rob Ski has 5k round torture videos for the PSA gf3 and 103. The PSAs were difficult to find find for awhile but now the supply seems to have caught up with demand.

The new Zestava's also have good reviews and are available in 5.56 as well as 7.62x39. I believe Atlantic has some of these available now.

I have one of their GF5s as well as a zastava. Both are great, but I’d buy the Zasty first.

It appears they only offer them in combo packages, that sucks.

This palmetto AK might work for you. Its $1099.99 but it's a very sweet.
psa AK

And for $75 you can get their AK 100 butt stock if you go the SBR route.

Man I thought ak's were supposed to be cheaper than ar's. They do look more complicated to make

I don’t think they are more complicated to make but the price has risen because the government isn’t allowing any kits with complete barrels in. Used to be a manufacturer could buy a shitload of surplus guns from somewhere for hardly anything and just chop receivers and send over. They would then put on a new receiver and a couple of American made parts and that was it. Now you have to also use an American made barrel. That and shortage due to covid and weapons ban scares have contributed to this rise.

It’s like the only make PSA has left in stock currently. A week or so ago they had a number to choose from. I spent some time last night looking for one from them and other manufacturers. Seems to be really dry right now. May just spend the money on 5.56 ammo right now
