Have any of you baws found a way to keep your chest freezer organized? My chest freezer is starting to get crowded now and I am trying to keep it organized.

In B4 "always buy an upright freezer".

I try to group stuff together in milk crates. You end up fitting less in the freezer but you lose less stuff at the bottom. I also try to keep an updated google sheets list of everything in it and update on my phone when I add/remove.

It started out ok with my fish on one side and red meat on the other. Everything is vacuum sealed so it stayed somewhat flat. Then the wife started throwing waffles and shite in there and now its out of hand.

A good thing to do with all freezers upright or chest is to make a list of everything that’s in there and stuck it on the top or side. Each time you get something, just scratch that item out Helps you remember that bag of trout fillets that are on the bottom of the freezer

I feel your pain. We have a toddler and we shop at Costco. My chest freezer is filled with all kinds of stuff. Then I have to pull everything out to find what I'm looking for. Occasionally some things aren't put back in so I will have some items "defrosting" in my garage for a week.

I have one of each and an upright freezer is the way to go. Sams has them for $229. Not huge, but not expensive either.

Plastic crates have worked for me. Once a deer or pig is broken down and vac sealed, I try to consolidate it in 1 or 2 crates. Same with fish, try to keep fish from the same date together. I also stack the crates so oldest stays on top so its being eaten first. You do lose a little room in the freezer with the crate itself, but it does stay better organized.

The list idea on the outside seems helpful as well.

I'll check out amazon to see if they have any baskets. I may end up sorting it by type of fish/game then trying tp keep the older stuff on top. We will see how it goes.

I fight this two or three times a week. I use 1' by 1' baskets to keep a particular type of meat (pork, beef, chicken, etc) separate which helps some.

The easiest way to organize a chest freezer is to buy an upright.

Get a 20 pack of bottle beer. drink beer. cut the top off the box and use it. Even has handles. Good thing is you'll need a few boxes.

Dividers

Stackable baskets

I just organized mine by using the items in the links above. Use the dividers at the bottom to seperate out different types of meat, stacking them as high as I need. Then will use the baskets to hold other things. Seems to work well so far

I have things separated by animal.

Left side of the freezer is salmon, whitefish, seal, walrus, etc.

Middle of the freezer is moose.

Right side of the freezer is berries and ducks/geese.

For reference I have a 7 foot chest freezer.

Pro-Tip: Put the dead body in first and then stack everything else on top of it. No one will ever find the dead body.

This definitely helps. We use a dry erase marker on the chest itself.

Over seen dividers made out of 1x12s.

They nailed a bunch of them standing on end as dividers and nailed one across the top to keep them together.

Then they flipped it over so the flat part ended up on the bottom with the partitions facing up.

Had meat, fish, sausage, family shite like waffles and popsicles.

This is a good idea.
