5 man limits (2 blinds) in Forked Island both days this weekend.

Bagged two drake woodies, one of them had a band. Also picked up 3 green heads and 1 mallard hen which is crazy for this time of the year but I guess that serious cold front pushed them down. Rest teal and ring neck

Did okay in DuLarge Saturday morning. 12 between 3 hunters. We lost 3 others in the marsh. Had to call it an early morning because the water was dropping faster than we anticipated.

We had youth hunt Saturday and one of my boys wanted to venture out to the ole rice field.

To my surprise, the teal were not there......

....but the mallards were. I was shocked when he knocked down the first two mallards.

They did not work well at all though. Going to change up the decoys and add more brush to the blind.

The pintail started flying high at about 8:30 but none really worked.

He gave a couple of specs a pass.

I think we might know a few people in common... Saw a few pictures of a friend of mine down in PI with a very similar strap

We struggled at Sabine. 2 the first day and 8 the second. We did kill a banded mottled duck though. Banded in Grand Chenier this year.

The area I used to hunt about 10 years ago didn't have nearly the birds it used too. Sunday they worked better and we should've limited, but just not much going on.

Going tomorrow. Gonna try to change it up a little.
