My vet recently recommended putting my oldest on Prozyme. It is a powder that we add to his food to help him digest food better and we have noticed he is less skinny...

Just lost it. I remember doing the same exact thing with my childhood dog when it got to be that time. I was in college.

That's sad and great at the same time. Being able to be with your friend till the end is something I'm so glad I have been able to do for the pets I have lost. I don't think they would want anything more than to pass in either family's arms.

I am not ready to bring him to the vet yet. He is nothing but skin and bones but he eats like a horse.

Da fuq? Healthy dog loses alot of weight for no reason but you aren't going to take him to the vet? Or am I reading this wrong?

My dog was healthy as could be and slipped away in less than two months due to lymphoma. He lost about 30 lbs in a month and then we noticed a growth under his jaw. It ended up doubling in size to about the size of a lemon in less than two wks and his lip began swelling so much he couldnt stop from drooling. He still wanted to go outside and play fetch even though he was in so much pain and growing weaker by the day. He was my best friend and even though I only had him for 8 years, he seemed to have always been there for all of the important things in my life. He had the biggest heart you could imagine. It took 4 separate shots to euthanize him and he still didnt want to go. One final shot of adrenaline straight into his heart finally did it and he slipped away with me holding him. It was the hardest thing Ive ever had to do. I still think about him regularly and it happened almost 1.5 years ago now. I miss Big Rock.

Just took one last ride in the Jeep with the Ole Girl - very peaceful passing and I feel good about the decision. As hard as that just was, I could see it in her eyes - she was tired. Rest well Heidi

Coot,
Did you say how old he is? He is a good looking dog and like you said he is happy. Don't even want to think about going through that again. Good luck and God Bless.

Man don't post like that any more I'm at work. Hard to explain that I got dust in my eyes in an office.

Very difficult thing to do, but being with her was the right move. You have great memories of her to cherish.

Hunt66,

Thoughts and prayers. Hard decision to make but sounds like you made the right one.

Probably will be doing that soon with my brown dog. Will be 14 in a few months.
