The Areo upper fits it? I read only PSA parts work in their AR10's. I was wanting to build an upper for it but after buying it seemed my only option was to use their upper.

Don't know about the AR10s, but my .223/5.56 is a PSA lower and aero upper. fits together like a glove, zero issues there

The lower is still stripped but putting them together and it looks like everything lines up just fine. I think that's more to buy only their parts but won't say that it's completely the truth because i don't know.

Palmetto won't say it but I'm pretty positive that its a DPMS (LR-308) clone.

The two are DPMS and Armalite.

DPMS seems to me to be a little more universally accepted at this point.

AR15s have standardized dimensions, so any standard AR15 lower should fit any standard AR15 upper. The large frame AR15 variant receivers do not have this across the board standarization.

Its the "pretty positive" that gets me. I looked on other message boards and that's what I see too. I wanted to build a nice upper with a good barrel. I may just have to get the PA10 upper and if I don't like it make it a safe queen. I wasn't big on an AR10 but I was sucked in by the sale and now I'm stuck . Oh well need to finish my pistol build and then a 10/22 custom build then a Grendel... The AR10 is far down the list.

How kind of you to offer that.
Now if I could just get my hands on a Nemo or Falkor 300 win mag I'd stop all the projects... Unfortunately its just a tad outside the budget

Every time I think about building a pistol, I end up with another rifle &/or carbine; but, if I had a legal SBR, I'd want one for each extra upper...

I got both handguards, so it can be deployed in either configuration. They swap in less than a minute

Just the barrel?

If your gas block is pinned you will need (well want really) a new gas block. Also the pistol length barrel will (maybe, probably) have a different gas tube length so that will be needed. If the gas block is pinned you will also probably just want to get a new barrel nut so you don't have to pound the gas block roll pins out.

Now that you've invested in a new barrel, barrel nut, gas block, and gas tube, you might as well just buy an upper receiver, hand guard, and muzzle device and make a new upper.

Now that you have a new upper you decide to get a new BCG and charging handle so you don't have to swap them back and forth going from pistol to rifle config.

Now you have an extra complete upper laying around. For $130 + FFL fees you could just add a new lower so you don't have to swap the lower out every time you want to use the rifle upper.

And this my friends is how upgrading 1 AR turns into two. It's science. So you might as well skip the middle man and just buy a 3rd rifle in the configuration you want.

Let me be a bit more specific, below are the uppers on the two guns, I wish to put 16inch barrels on them until the end of time and use any accessories from them to dress out new barrels.

I wish to use the below barrels

Other than going to a mid length gas tube what would be the obstacles?

You will need a new handgaurd as well. 6.5” handgaurd will be too short for a mid length gas system. Check ALG Defense their EMR 3 handgaurd are good if you don’t want to spend a lot. Especially if you can get them blemishes for half off. Hard to find a better handgaurd than that at $70ish. The two blemished I have I had to search to find the blemish.
