Wife has a 13 explorer Xlt fully loaded like a limited though. Had it for a year and half and I'm impressed with it. Has third row seats if needed and nice features. She had a base camary before so this was an upgrade. They aren't cheap but they are nice for the room and features. After kids I'm sure I'll be buying an expedition because it's bigger...she likes driving my f150 because she can see better. We also looked at 4 runners and for the price the ford had more to offer even though we liked them. They just expensive but it's Toyota and you get what you pay for.

Yeh.... She is 31 and on her 2nd vehicle. She doesn't want one either, but the 99 4 runner has 260k on it. Her being on the road and crossing back and forth across the river a good bit is the reason I'm getting her something. It runs great, but something is bound to happen and I don't want to be out of town when it does. That all being said she is being picky as hell with this...
tried to get her to look at the smaller ones like the rogue, rav4 etc... Got a big ol nope. Tried the car angle, b/c we could get something really nice for that price and better gas mileage.... Nope, hates driving her moms Camry. Doesn't like being low
To her defense all she has driven is a 4 runner, which she doesn't care for now with the newer body styles...

Wife has an 11 Explorer Limited. All the little features are pretty awesome but there is a learning curve with the Sync system and all the bells and whistles. Tons of room throughout, can't complain about it at all.
We looked at Tahoe, 4Runner, Rogue, Pathfinder, Pilot, Highlander, etc etc.
The Explorer was far and away more bang for your buck.

I agree man. We have the cargo mat for the back when the 3rd row is folded down. She wants a sport in the new ones...I said no..you drive my ecoboost f 150 like you stole it. The explorer sport ain't happening

I wanted the sport for a second, then I remembered the wife would be driving it, not me. So we decided against it as well.
She is consistently a couple feet away from bump drafting on the interstate. I play on my phone the entire time I ride with her, if I'm gonna die I don't want to see it.

GMC Acadia, dropped a trailer hitch on it so I can haul the boat when we go on family trips. Plenty of room for us, and lil angler. We have # 2 on the way and well still have plenty of room. Had 6 adults in it last week and there was plenty of room. Decent MPG, and I dont mind driving it.

2014 Rav4. Doesn't have as much room as those others, but the ride and styling remind me of it's cousin the RX330

She drives an '11 F-150 but now that we are expecting out 2nd child withing 13mths, she wants an SUV. Its more "family friendly" she say...She probably avgs 100mi+ daily. Trying to stay around $35k if we can. Im gonna have to go look at those explorers I guess.

Explorer is the way to go...ours is loaded and we paid right about 35 out the door. It's a Xlt not a limited but has everything but power rear fold seats.

Not sure if she has entertained the explorer.... Does it have the Eco boost?

Best in class, but not in the SRX/Lexus class.
Easily beats a Highlander on features.

Jeep Grand Cherokee. I had my doubts when she decided that's what she wanted, but so far (couple of years) it's been a good vehicle. FYI...she is a terrible driver and didn't feel comfortable driving/parking something as big as a Tahoe.

We got the 11 Explorer Limited used with 20k miles on it for 26k.
Nothing even came close in styling and features. The jeep and 4runner were 10k more for the same features with more miles.
Let her drive it first, if you are used to a rear wheel drive vehicle it takes a second to get used to.
290 HP and front wheel drive create some torque steer, but you get used to it.

New design explorer. We love it. Great gas mileage and tons of room.

I had a 2002 grand Cherokee before I got my tundra. That thing was a piece of shite. Then engine was great, but 2 transmissions and 4 window motors will put a bad taste in your mouth. Not counting all the other shite I had to change. Got 200k out of it though before I sold it. Not real sure on buying a new one b/c of the problems I had with the cheap shite in it.
