Anyone use the Nosler Acubond bullets. Hunting mainly whitetail up to about 200 yard shots. Thinking about trying some out, just wanted the board's thoughts on the bullet.

The perfect hunting bullet.

I’ve also had good luck with Nosler Ballistic Tips.

I shoot a lot of Nosler Ballistic Tip and Accubond bullets and have had great success with both. It is very rare when you find a rifle that does not group them well. If you are using a standard caliber such as 30/06, 308, 270 etc use the Ballistic Tips. If you are using a magnum caliber use the Accubond. They are essentially the same bullet but the Accubond has the lead core bonded to the jacket for a tougher bullet with more retained weight.

AB is a fantastic bullet. Running it in a 6.5x55 and 30-06. Groups well and highly effective.

Steve Rinella is an accubond fan I believe. I've personally never used them but I know people who do and they like them as well. I wouldnt hesitate to use them especially on deer.

They've recently come out with a long range version as well that has a thinner jacket to open up easier at lower velocity. Long range according to nosler is 500+ yards.

I use them in my 308 and 6.5 Creedmoor. I've had no issues with accubonds

I was actually just looking at these yesterday. I’ll be loading some in several different calibers. The 190 gr is what I’ll likely go with in my 300.

Had used them well over 20 years hand loading. Always held a grouping of 1" at 100 yards. Great knock down power.

I'm trying to decide if my all around .30-06 bullet is going to be accubond or partitions.

I have used them exclusively for years in my .270 and have taken maybe 20 deer with this combo. Aside from one “bad” shot on a traveling buck (that I found within 50 yards), I’ve never had a deer take another step. Typical shots have been 120-250yds.

I used some Barnes TSX ballistic tips in my .270 this year for the first time. 130gr. They were awesome! Pricey but I liked the results.

once I broke in the barrel, my 30 Nosler groups the ABs 1/2" at 100yds. First cold bore shot is usually dead on the bulls eye. I've tested it out to 500yds and was still blowing up milk jugs w/ center-mass hits at that distance.

Before Barnes & Bergers became all the rage, my dad always loaded us ballistic tips for our 30-06's, 270's, 243's...the normal whitetail rifles. Again, super accurate DRT performance.

The load I worked up for a .270 was a 130 gr and had it at 2750. Most shots on deer were placed mid deer high in the back unless it was a big buck. That placement shot would just snap the deer's back and drop them in their track.

I do in my .308. I've probably killed 5 or 6 deer with them in the last 3 years. I'm pleased with them.

Imagine a tub of red jello mixed with hamburger meat. That's what a 338WM with Nosler BTs will do to a mule deer chest cavity.

How are your exit holes and blood trails with the 6.5?

I’m load developing for my 6.5-06 Ackley and looking at options.

Has anyone tried them in a 257 Weatherby Mag?

Yes. I’ve shot them in 257 WBY. They’re awesome. I shoot Ballistic Tips in 257 WBY, as well. People will tell you that a BT will blow up in a hot cartridge like the 257 WBY, but I’ve had good luck with BTs from both 257 and 300 WBYs. My son also shoots BTs from a 257 WBY.

Has the design changed? I remember the 130s in 270cal blowing up and never having an exit but that was 25-30yrs ago.
I used to shoot fed premium Nosler part 150gr in my 270 and they were always leaving good blood trails with exits most of the time.
