Noseeums or biting midges- how to get rid of them

Me and the kids are getting torn up in the yard the last week. It’s not mosquitoes or chiggers. Not fleas.
Based on everything I can determine it’s biting midges or otherwise knows as noseeums.
Anybody else have these and know how to get rid of them? It’s tough because we’re on some land with lots of woods.

Off with deet
Big arse fans
Spray yard with talstar
Stay inside
Move
Victoria secret amber romance
Avon skin so soft
In no particular order of effectiveness. I hate those fricking things, if there is one within 5 miles it's going to bite me.

My dad and I could be working side by side at the camp for an hour and I'd have 39 mosquito bites and he wouldn't have one even land on him. Drove me crazy

I really didn't want to spray something that's going to kill bees in the yard but if it comes down to getting eaten alive or bees...

Imitation Vanilla and Citronella in a spray bottle. Works well and you don't smell like a French whore.

Just make sure, if you are married, you have your wife apply that shite. Otherwise, you gonna have some explaining to do!

Late 80's scout camp, entire property smelled like skin so soft.

Imitation vanilla extract and rubbing alcohol in a spray bottle.
Olive oil nourishing sheen spray. What I keep at the house, camp, etc. It just works.

This is all we use when we go to the Bahamas. Works amazingly well.

We're getting lit up at my house as well. I don't ever remember them being at my house in the 10+ years we've been here. Suburban lot, no woods, but they are all over my centipede/st aug. I haven't applied talstar yet, but I have some ready to go next week when I have some time this weekend.
BTW - These aren't the same gnats that bite me in the marsh (noseeums size of a flea). They are buffalo gnats, much larger.

The Marsh Romance spray works ok.
Only truly effective method I've found is to cover up head to toe. Long pants, long sleeve fishing shirt with hood, gloves, buff.
