Nilgai rarely if ever jump fences. They usually go under the bottom strand which will either break or stretch allowing to cross in the same location. They are creatures of habit and usually shite in the same general area. IMO, Rize’s bull was closer to 600 lbs. ... definitely a MAN !

I'd call it a contraption, not a rifle.

Give me walnut and steel, not that thing.

I was able to put 3 rounds in that bull before he went 10 yards. I bought that gun for one purpose and finally got to use it for what I bought it for.

Awesome rifle. I thought that was the Petra but wanted to confirm. How do you like it?

I love it. There is no recoil shooting a .300 win mag and you are able to stay on target for quick follow up shots of needed. I just ordered a NF ATACR 5-25x56 F1 for it and a Spur mount.

Rize is spot on with his firearm strategy...hunting those big monsters has caused tons of people to be frustrated by their gear. They run as soon as they see you and don’t stop. They are massive and can run after getting plugged with a big rifle...and they are often in areas that allow them to disappear into thick stuff quickly. A fast firing big caliber rifle is perfect, especially if high rack hunting is a possibility.

Thats cool. Sounds like bow hunting them is not really an option. Although that sounds like one hell of a challenge.

People bow hunt them but it is a really tough hunt. I shot it with a solid copper bullet 180 grains and found 2 bullets in the hide on the opposite side with no pass though and no blood. The blood pooled came out of his mouth. I have seen them shot with .375’s ,300 ultra mag and .338’s with no pass through and no blood trail.

Rize’s recovered bullets - 180 gr TSX

5 strand barbed-wire as Nilgai will bust the bottom 2 strands to cross under fences

Those trails look like pretty good spots to hunt them. On low fence they are considered feral so there’s no season right?

You should have saddled him up. Congrats on the kill. That will be a lot of good eating.

Looks like my cows waiting on feed

I couldn’t have animals breaking fences like that. I’d have to hunt them relentlessly until they were exterminated
