Anyone have experience with the meopta optika6 4.5-27x50 or the Vortex viper Pst gen 2 5-25x50? Will be going on a browning A bolt, 26" barrel with the BOSS. Seems like vortex has an awesome warranty. Is there any better offerings in the $750-$1000 range? Priorities will be low light transmission and im looking into playing around with some distance shooting. Any feedback or suggestions are appreciated!

There’s a reason Vortex warranty is so good. I’d go meopta.

Razor is the only thing I would consider in a Vortex and even then if I’m spending that kind of money I’m buying something else.

Any experience with meopta? I have a buddy that swears by them but i havent looked through them at dusk to see how they looked. Always used leupold in the past.

Yes. I have a Meostar and it’s one of the best low light scopes I own. I’ve got a decent amount of scopes and always tend to buy something different to test out.

Leupold VX6
Leupold VX7
Zeiss HD 5
Zeiss V6
Swaro Z6
NF NXS
NF ATACR
Nikon Monarch
Nikon Monarch Gold
Leica

Swaro El 10x42 Binos

Would not do a scope like that on a hunting rig. It's not necessary. One of the scopes I have sold a bunch of and am pretty impressed with is the Leupold vx5HD 3-15x44. $999.99 and great. I hate leupold hunting stuff unless you are talking vx5 or vx6. The optikas are very nice and I sell a bunch but they are less streamlined.

Whats your opinion on the glass clarity between the optika and the vx5? How well does the 15x zoom work for shooting around 1000 yds? Would you recommend a ffp scope over a sfp? Im a buy once cry once kind of person so trying to get it right the first try.

I’d rather use a toilet paper tube than a vortex. Meopta all day for me.

I’ll second the vx5. Amazing glass and warranty for the price point

I think you need to spend more money on a scope if you want to shoot 1,000 yards. Consider shooting 500 yards with a max scope of 16x. That’ll be much more practical as a hunting scope.

Somebody is pissed off and downvoting everything in this thread.

Another vote for VX5 3-15

I’ll disagree on 257s view on max range. I have easily shot my vx5 out to 600 yds. At that distance you can’t see the target impact with anything so higher power isn’t going to help with that. I shoot 600 a lot with my NF ATACR 5-25x56 and Vortex Razor 4.5-27x56
I have a vortex razor spotting scope and I can’t see impact at 600yds with it either.

I just bought a 3-15x44 vx5hd two weeks ago. I've only put 25 rounds through the rifle so far but the scope is awesome. It is a hunting rig but if ammo starts to get a bit more easy to find, I'd like to get into some distance shooting with it.

+1 for leupold VX5s and VX6s. Love mine. Glass is so much better than anything by Vortex at same price point. However, almost put a Meopta on my new CZ, but caught a Zeiss on sale and went in that direction.

I have that very version of the Meopta. Only had it a couple of years, but I’ll say, it’s excellent glass. I have pretty good binoculars and the scope is good for quite some time at dusk after the binoculars have checked out.

Meopta makes some models of Zeiss, believe their conquest line. Or did in the past.
The Meopros I purchased from optics planet closeouts thanks to a post on this board a few years ago. They have great glass and do very well dawn and dusk.
I'm putting together a new rig for out west hunting and looking at Meostar on a 300 prc. Around the same prices as a lower Swaro, trying to stay under fifteen hundred..

That’s what I have on my .270, love it.

I only buy Meopta scopes for my hunting rifles. For the price you can’t beat the quality. I’ve been looking at the Optika6 scopes, will probably be my next purchase.

I have the gen 2 5-25. Its a decent scope glass wise. Its clear. I dont like the vertical adjustment turret. Its not very positive clicks. I wish I would not have gotten FFP. I thought I just had to have it but i dont use it. I like the Illuminated reticle of it. But my next purchase is a 4-20x52 vx5. I have a vx3i that is great glass but I gotta send it back for a 2nd time. I want to try meopta but have never even seen one in a store so i have no idea what quality glass they have but alot of people seem to like them

I prefer a low mag with a wide FOV for a hunting scope. A target/range scope doesn't matter.

Go take a look at Euro Optics site. I have got great deals on show room/demo scopes that are discounted. Also, just go to cabelas/bass pro and look through every single scope you are interested in and base your purchase off that.
