I have had my snakeproof boots for about 8 years now and they've served me well but do these types of boots have an expiration date of sorts?
Is it time for a new pair or am I good for a few more years?

Has a snake ever bitten your boat since you've had them? Any close calls?

Yeah, after 5 years they are only 50% effective. You can buy snake proofing cream to rub in and bring back the effectiveness. It's in the shoe dept next to the saddle soap. It never goes back to 100% though.

You do know they're just kevlar and/ or canvas right? There's nothing magical that makes them work. Its just a physical barrier the snake can't bite through.

kevlar

I think that is what he is worried about. Kevlar loses its integrity after 6 years or so.

How often do you wear them. I'm more impressed a pair of boots can last 8 years.

unless they have been sitting outside in the sun and rain for years and have started to rot away I think you are probably good to go until they hit the 9 year mark.

No they don't expire. If the outsides are fine and the sole is intact, good to go.
