I had a bench warrant and got one from Puglia's same day. I think they really just called and ordered pizza instead of getting a background check

Yes, if it's been 3 business days, ie you go in on monday, I believe you can pick it up on friday. they can sell you the gun, unless it's their policy to wait for an all clear. if thats the case, you need to find another FFL, because that wont happen and the other FFL will do it

Are you saying that you can just walk in a gun store, show them your permit, pay cash, and walk out with a firearm?
I call BS. A plastic CCW permit has no way of showing that you haven't committed any crimes since getting the permit. There has to be some kind of background check.

In Florida, the permit only gets us out of the 3 day wait for handguns, they still have to call in and do the check.

So if yall dont have a CCW then you have to wait 3 days no matter if you pass the background check or not?

In La. you pass the background check you go home with it that day. No wait. Our only weird rule with having to do with handguns is you have to be a La. resident to buy a handgun in La.

Yep. The only way to take a handgun home that day is to either have a CCW or be trading in an old handgun during the purchase.

I think most states require you to be a resident to buy a handgun, or use a local FFL to do the transfer back to your home state.

What is their reasoning for that law? If you have to wait for 3 days maybe you want go shoot someone if you think about it a few days? And if you are trading one in then you already have one you could use to murder with therefore you can take one home with you that day?

Politicians are so stupid.

No, if you have a CC, you dont have to worry about getting the delay.

If you dont have one, you could get a delay or not, just like any other check. I just for some unexplained, for sure, reason always get delayed.

First gun purchase? Or first in a long time? That's where the issue usually comes in, I was told.

Go somewhere else and buy one then, in the future, it should run through more timely at Academy- if you'd need another.

Thats not true. If a person gets delayed everytime there is something that is triggering that delay. Could possibly be someone with the same name or close to the same name that has commited a crime or something that would make them have to look into it further. The amount of guns or being your first purchase or your first purchase in a long time has nothing to do with it.

ETA. Also no matter who calls in the background check the person will still get delayed. You just wont have to wait as long as you do when going through academy, only the 3 days like the law says.

There is an 800 number that I called that you can call to get this cleared up. I had an arrest in college that ended up being nols pross (meaning it didn't show up as a prosecution, only arrest) that always delayed me. A friend who had a FFL gave me the number, I called and went over it with them, and after 30 days, it was cleared up. I walk out with the gun every time now.
