As an owner of an FNS9 full size, it is an excellent handgun but the FN509 is basically an improved version of it. I would recommend the 509 over the original.

I think I'm going to go handle one of these this weekend. Looks like a nice option, and I "need" one.

I bought a Canik SC Elite. I was blown away Bc I expected the compact to be even harder to shoot. But the Canik trigger was so much smoother my accuracy was night and day better.

I have and will continue to sing the praises of Canik. I got a TP9SFX several years back. Mainly bought it because the price was so good for the setup that I just couldn't turn it down. I have since got the Combat Elite and good Lord, is that a great gun.

The triggers in both mine are the best out of the box triggers of any pistol I've ever owned. They're even better than some aftermarket jobs I've put in some stuff.

They may not be on the same level as an HK or some of the Sig offerings, but as far as value dollar for dollar, I can't think of anything on the level of what Canik has done over the past several years. Really great guns.

Can a pistol have problems with ejection of ammo if the trigger isn't squeezed hard/full enough? Question being my 10 yr old shot my Canik it had ejection issues jamming i believe mostly when he was shooting.

Probably just not strong enough and limp wristing the pistol.

More than likely with a 10 yr old, it's probably something like "limp-wristing" or something else he is doing with his hand/hands. Especially if the pistol isn't having the same issues when you are shooting. I'd make sure you remind him of his grip and make sure he is using the "push/pull" method to make sure his grip is stable and sturdy. (I forget the actual name of the method, but I've always called it push/pull. But for righties, the right hand is on the rear and right of the grip "pushing" forward, left hand is on the left and on top of the other fingers in front "pulling". But I've found that method is the most stable platform for pistol shooting imo.)

It could be something with the gun, but I wouldn't think ejection problems would have much to do with trigger pull. Because once the round is fired, the slide, extractor, and ejector take over from there to remove the spent casing and load another round. So if the issues continue with yourself and/or after you've made sure his grip fundamentals are correct, then I'd start troubleshooting with the extractor, ejector, and/or the magazine itself.

sounds like a no-brainer to me. love my 17.

I like the way the 19 feels and you can’t go wrong with a Glock. I will be giving it another look but there are a few more brands that I would like test out.

So does this imply that the APX and APX A1 magazines are not interchangeable?

My Canik will stovepipe if limpwristed especially with 115 gr ammo. Hold it firmly and no problems at all.

That new Beretta is awesome

I’m curious how good the apx a1 carry is. I held one at Academy the other day and it felt nice. The only thing I see that I didn’t like was the 6 round magazine capacity. Does anyone own one or have shot one?

Just saw a video where it’s confirmed that the Beretta APX A1 CAN utilize the old APX magazines.

I have two Caniks, both TP9 Elite Combat w/ RDS on one. I love them and they've both been fantastic minus trying to find magazines.

Cheap Pro-mags will not feed after a couple rounds. They seem to like OE or nothing.

Handled one of the new APXs a few days ago at my buddy's range, and it's the best striker-fired, out of the box "budget" handgun I've ever shot, and it's not close.

Looks and feels like a $600-700 pistol. Shot plenty of Glocks, and I'd rather shoot this by a wide margin. Recoil impulse isn't even in the same galaxy.

Tighten your grip up. Your target is dog water. You are nudging which is causing all the low shots. To improve this you need a tight proper grip and you need to do dry fire exercises daily. Come see me at Styx River Shooting Center off I-10 in Alabama anytime.

Grip is fine, trust me. The pistol shoots low out of the box b/c of how Beretta made the sight picture. It's a common issue with the APXs.

Handled some hi points at a gun show last weekend. Man are they hideous. Just absolutely gross to look at. If I’m poor and need self defense then sure but goddamn.

Watch out for rebates and expiration dates soon. I think Beretta is offering a $100 rebate on the A1 carry right now, but I don't know how much longer it will last.

If you hunt around, you can probably get one for about $220 after rebate. That's a steal for anything, but especially a rebut able gun maker.

The only downside I see about the Carry version is that it's basically only a 7-round pistol. Wish they would have made it double stack.
