I have an acre lot on the bayouside. Some of it is slightly sloped to the bayou and I have a fairly large ditch in the front. I have always had lawn tractors, but will probably go with a zero turn unless you guys convince me otherwise.

I am looking at both gravely and bad boys. Which is the better most reliable mower.

Bad Boy Mowers ZT Elite 48 in. Kohler Pro 7000 KT726 26 hp

Gravely ZT X 48" Kawasaki Zero Turn Mower 918009 Kawasaki® FR651V 21.5 hp.

I am leaning toward the bad boy due to the 26 hp engine.

I don't know anything about zero turns so most would be more knowledgeable than I but I will say that I'd prefer the Kawasaki engine.

Get a clanker to do it for you. Mine has been great.

I have a bad boy strictly for the deck/frame being 1/4”. I figured I could change out an engine or hydro but the frame is the one thing I couldn’t get around.

I bought a Scag with the Kolher pro 7000 last year. Good engine from my limited research

You can get that bad boy with a 24 hp kawasaki. Both are built in the US and are good mowers

Look at the small Kubota 42" zero turn with the Kawasaki for that size yard. Much more maneuverable

I've had a John Deere with a Kohler engine for 20+ years, 1500 +/- hours. Hard for me to recommend anything else...

Lotta good mowers out there. I love my Bad Boy ZT Elite. I found the bad boy ZT offers the most for your dollar regarding biggest transaxles, deck thickness, suspension, etc. Gravely is great but found that I had to go up in class and spend more money to get the same features.

My main recommendation is to buy from a local dealer and not from a big box store.

I bought a Hustler Raptor in 2017 with the same motor. I've had zero issues. I know the OP didn't ask about Hustler, but wanted to throw a bone to the Kohler. It's been a problem-free workhorse. Of course, now that I've typed this, it will blow up tomorrow

DO NOT BUY A BAD BOY ZT ELITE 48!!!!!!!

They are horribly balanced and just peel out. You can’t turn without it spinning tires. I fricking hate mine with a passion!!! Worse money I ever spent on anything and I regret it every time I cut my yard!!!!! (son hates it too)

No idea how their other models are but the zt elite in 48” is garbage!!!

If I had to buy over again it’d be a gravely. I looked at them last year when I was looking to buy but I know the family who owns shop where I got the bad boy. Horrible mistake on my part!

Used to the hustler was the cheapest you could get with a welded deck and a kawasaki engine.

Lower center of gravity since you said you are on a slope. At least committed to many back when I was looking years ago.

Look at what the commercial grass mower guys are using in your area.
Around here, most were using Kubota or Scag. I see a few are starting to use Bad Boy the last couple of years.
I bought a commercial Scag with a Kawasaki engine. I mow several acres. Buy one with a welded deck and preferably with a local dealer.
Most Manufacturers have a residential mower, a commercial mower and one that’s in between those two in quality.
The engines are usually on three levels too. My eighth year with the Scag. Only had to replace the spindles beside regular maintenance

Thanks for the replies.

I had never driven a zero turn until yesterday. I went to my dad's who has a 60" gravely and damn near got tangled up into a barbed wire fence.

Once I got the hang of it, it wasn't that bad. I don't think it would work well with my yard layout with the slopes and ditches, so I will go back to a lawn tractor.

+1 for Kawasaki engines. My dad just let me have his 18 year old scag with a Kawasaki in it. Engine still going strong with about 1500 hours on it, maybe 1700 I can't remember off the top of my head
