if you have a craftsman that goes 8.0 mph, why are you switching. Chances are, your thing goes closer to 5 mph.

Even for a smaller deck? The latest Kubota Sammy Broussard wanted to sell me had a 54" deck and was right at $9K. Seems a machine with the smaller deck would cost less.
OP, I priced a Hustler at Pro Power on Airline this summer. It was around $6500 (54" deck). Might want to give them a try along with Asc. Equipment and Star Equipment in Hammond.

48" Scag tiger cub. We've had ours for roughly 9-10 years. Haven't had one problem with it, besides regular maintenance issues. (the blade belt popped once, and it was a pain in the arse to fix, but it didn't take long.)
I'm not sure what kind of financing Pro Power on Airline Hwy in Baton Rouge offers. But they have top notch service, and I'm fairly sure they deliver.

ok...one last question...i remember reading on one of the zero turn threads about the deck hanging from chain or from bolt..whats the difference or reason for that??
Posted on 10/6/14 at 4:40 pm to CENLALSUFAN
Decks hung from chains are "floating". More relief to sway side to side / up and down on hills, bumps, etc.
For flat, residential mowing, a bracket deck is fine. Although if you have the extra funds, floating deck is definately the way to go.

floating decks won't give the better cut.

Chad how are you liking that Big Dog mower?
Posted on 10/6/14 at 4:47 pm to CENLALSUFAN
Mine hangs from a chain. It lets the deck go with the flow of the ground you are cutting. I've never cut with a mower that has a deck hanging from a bolt, but for some reason I don't think i would like it. I feel like you would end up "scalping" your yard much more often with a bolt vs. a chain.

I like it a lot. I only had a riding mower John Deere to compare it to though but its nice, runs great... people think they need something that goes 8-9 mph but you aren't ever going to get the best cuts going that fast.
