f he shot 3 posts in your other neighbor's fence he doesn't have any business shooting in the yard.

This would really piss me off and I wouldnt let it slide

This. It's proof he's irresponsible about where he shoots his bow and I would think it's just a matter of time before something bad happens.

This is not acceptable and he should be told so-------and be prepared to back it up if it continues.

Suggest he invests in a backstop before he shoots a pet or worse you and family.

does it bother you more or less when the neighbor using a weed whacker chews the vinyl at ground level?

Slightly different but about a year ago a neighbor was shooting at a target on a levee behind his house in st Charles parish. He was shooting a 22lr. Just so happened he didn’t see a local high school cc runner runner and put a bullet in his chest from the side. Luckily the kid just had a lung drop.

With that being said, the dude needs to fix your fence and not shoot again until he puts up a backstop you agree will be safe enough to shoot. Or he needs to tell you when he goes shoot so no one is back there.

fricking idiots.

Kind of off-topic, but it would not make me happy if my neighbor is so careless as to eat up the bottom of a vinyl fence I paid for and installed or had installed. That only shortens the life of the fence to some degree and easily avoidable. Installed properly, the fence will not be in direct contact with ground level, so that is avoidable.

But it's not like that will kill or injure me like an errant arrow could through their neglect.

Was it toward your house or anyone else's house? Modern archery equipment 99% of shots will be within a pie plate at 40 yards or under and most will hit a baseball at 25 yards.

Its really about errant shots as is what happened here. I've shot in my backyard before but I shot toward the empty wooded lots where there was no homes and I would never shoot when anyone was back there even to my side. You just never know what could happen. I've seen arrows hit the side or top of a target and go crazy directions.

But if he's shooting in the direction of homes, I'd say absolutely not. You could send an arrow into someone's window.

This is why I live in the middle of nowhere and don't have neighbors.

No harm no foul, I’m sure he learned his lesson and scared the crud outta him as to what coulda happened. Thats why he will take it to the range next time.

This. I shot my neighbors shed and punched a hole in his siding. I fessed up and repaired it. I was embarrassed more than anything. Hopefully he is too. I changed my backstop to the other corner of the property after that

I would mention he could cheaply build a backstop out of a horse stall mat. It’s not great for the arrow, but it’s a backstop. When I made mine it was like $40 from tractor supply. Link for something similar.

And why most everyone doesn't do it.

We got new neighbors and they were fixing a few boards on the fence. They saw where I had my targets and freaked out. They thought I was going to shoot their dogs. Previous owners never said a word. Fences make neighbors tolerable.

then don't. He'll probably do something stupid to upset you at some point.

I'm so glad I live in the middle of a cane field and have a few acres between me and my neighbors. There is no substitute for space.
