Muscadine grapes

Anyone in the st. Francisville area seeing any muscadine grapes ? I usually know it’s time when I see purple stains on the road. I didn’t get any last year. I think it was just a bad year. I was too late the year before.

They should be in full swing if not already winding down. 1st of Aug is when I start looking. Mid-late Aug is peak

Wild ones are about done this year, my cultivated ones are on thier last week or so, peaked last weekend and this weekend, so far we have picked 20 gallons, hoping for another 5 or so

2 big vines, one of the purple traditional varieties, one of the golden scuppernog variety, both vines have about 3 mother vines, probably planted 40 or 50 years ago, we bought the place 10 years ago and they were loaded

I have 2 vines in the New Iberia area. I finished picking about 3 weeks ago.

I have two vines and we picked last week. We were a bit late. They were ready a few weeks ago. This was a really good year for us.

My family had a property for decades and then I bought it and had it for 13 years. It wasn't until year 8 or 9 of my ownership when I noticed some wild grapes.
I would have to race the deer that were eating them. I would check the vines every day and night when I came in from work. Never got more than about a gallon or two.
I've been talking about trying to grow some grapes on my new property, but the deer are even more active on it.
My mom has made muscadine jelly a few times and even won an award for it at the Tangipahoa Parish Fair.

I have a bunch of vines but have never looked for them.
It’s just been too hot here (north MS) lately to go and look. I need to do that next year though.

My neighbor in St Fran has been picking domestic muscadines for a while now. I was at Sherburne this morning and saw a bunch turning purple. Haven't been in the woods much around town, though.

My boys picked a ton in Eutaw, AL this weekend. Didn’t have as many as usual this year
