Needed some new rubber boots for this weekend and my local Academy didn't have the trusty solid green Lacrosse boots I like, but they did have the regular ole Muck Field Blazers for $80 so I scooped them up. I feel like I remember reading that, like almost every other product on earth, Muck Boots quality has gone down since they were first introduced. Is this true?

It doesn't make much of a difference at this point really, since I already bought them. But I'm curious.

If Bowie has the Lacrosse when I go later this evening, I will probably buy them, and return the Muck to Academy.

I just like the one piece construction of the Grange. The two or more piece for rubber boots makes me nervous. But I will say that the Mucks are comfy. I'm not hard on rubber boots, so I'm sure if they aren't the best quality, they will still last me a couple years. My Game Winner ones I bought years ago lasted prolly 4 years, but I lost them in the hurricane last year.

They won me over from Grange when I used to walk 2 miles in at Bayou Cocodrie NWR. Felt like tennis shoes compared.

My first pair of Mucks lasted 9 years and were comfortable as shite.
Then last year for some idiotic reason I replaced them with Cabelas brand.
They’re comfortable too, we’ll see how long they last.

Yall are making me feel better about not finding the old faithful Grange. Maybe I'll just stick with these, and if they don't last, ohh well.

Besides, I have my duck boots for when I'm working around the house and its sloppy. These will basically only be used for hunting, which if I'm being honest, doesn't happen nearly as much as it used to. I'm hoping to get back into it next season, though.

I got lucky this weekend and got invited to try and shoot a doe on a buddy's lease.

Muck would have to go out of business for me to return to Grange.

I don't know why I thought there was a thread on here about Muck quality going to shite. I might have made that up in my head because it seems most popular products that were once highly regarded have since gone down in quality...

My current ones seem little different from the ones I bought when they first came out.

My lacrosse alpha lites leaked after a little over a year. My next boot will be solid rubber.

This has always been my thing. Can't leak unless they are punctured...

I like Muck, but I think my next pair will be Xtra Tuffs (not the salmon sisters).

I am about to have to buy my 3rd set of Muck boots in the past 10 years. Got about 5 years out of each pair I’ve owned. I don’t really take care of them, put them through hell, and they do just fine. What they lack in durability they make up for in comfort. I’ve worn them walking 4-6 miles per day during turkey season and more than that pheasant hunting. The boots have never been the limiting factor in what I can do. More so due to being an out of shape old man.
