That's news to the DOTD, unless you're counting Leatherman Point.

it has changed some... but it still has the last public official use the quintessential racial slur in an interview... and it wasn't that long ago..

it was long long long after the judge...

I guess I'm sorta showing my age.. Most probably never even heard about Judge and the P. family..

I knew that when I came into town to do a job where my first stop was gonna be.

I dated a girl from Pitkin once, good time but her first cousin hated me. He had always wanted to be with her and she never would according to her best friend, which was also her cousin ( go figure)

my grandfather ran the beer distribution network in his two parishes until the early 70s.

I am really surprised nobody did a movie or mini series on him/them.. just think if greed hadn't torn em apart......

and you have to be at least 10 maybe more years older than me if you was doing business when he still had a leash on it..

i just remember going through those two parishes and there was NOT ONE franchise business except for popeyes....

La 910 off La 15 (behind Blackhawk, 910 turns into Red River Rd.) is pretty damned backwoods.

My grandmother grew up in these parts and her family killed absolutely everything they came across. They had a particular liking for robins... not sure how much meat you can even get off of one of those.

To be fair, they were dirt poor and killed for sustenance, not necessarily to just be outlaws, but they were that too. Fiercely independent and didn’t mind dating 2nd or 3rd cousins, but again, out of necessity for lack of people.

I’m glad my family didn’t stay.
