ok, to keep it short and simple, toward the end of last summer, the back yard has turned into a complete solid web of mole tunnels. you sink into the ground every step through the entire yard almost. there's about a 10x10 foot section that even the sod is completely ripped up because of this.
what the hell can i do to prevent this from happening again this year assuming i find a way to fix the current distruction.

Maybe dig a drainage ditch to relieve the "sinkhole"?

If you can't afford that get some Bayer grub poison from lowes. Moles are there to feed on the grubs.

My father in law says caster beans will kill them. I have about 30-40 beans in my garage but no moles. I got them after I got a mole trap and I think I got him with the trap
With the trap make sure that you work the prongs up and down several times so that when the mole trips the trap that there isn't any resistance.

I don't know if they grow cotton up your way. But if they do, timic will do the trick.

My father-in-law has a device you put over a tunnel and is triggered when the mole comes through. It gigs the mole like a flounder.
He pushes all the tunnels down with his foot then checks to see which ones are pushed back up... which means they are being actively used. The set the trap and it doesn't take long. Dead mole.

Get a Jack Russell/Rat Terrier cross, let him out and get ready for some fun. Hell, you may be able to sell tickets.

I had a Dachsund that would do this too.
The moles are starting to take over my yard. I'm about to unleash hell on them.

Pour moth balls into the tunnels. Once water hits them they release a gas that drives them away.
